The only reason I have one is I'm taking the volute/cover off my Turbo to change the compressor wheel. And I don't see it hurting anything.
If not for that I don't think I would give this mod a second look. No disrespect meant....

If you're gonna race, knock the 25 lbs of snow/ice out from under sled. Keep skis perfectly straight. You can probably get that much *effective* HP back on the average tuned sled by simply keeping the drivetrain in good maintenance. Loss through the multiple translations from crankshaft to lugs on snow is losing way more power than you can ever get back with a small mod like this.

Going with an aftermarket compressor wheel? What one and what are the expected Hp gains? Do you have to rebalance your turbo? Just curious. The only reason I have one is I'm taking the volute/cover off my Turbo to change the compressor wheel. And I don't see it hurting anything.

Mambatek...Quicker spool would yield a new mild change in torque under the curve. With other changes involved I'll never know if it worked or not.Going with an aftermarket compressor wheel? What one and what are the expected Hp gains? Do you have to rebalance your turbo? Just curious.
I'm not going to rebalance the turbo.

Let's pretend you've done five things to your sled, each gaining 5hp. You can see how everything adds up quickly.
If you're willing to think like this, keep up with maintenance, kick the ice off your tunnel and keep the skis straight. You will in theory, have a faster sled.
I truly believe in doting your eyes and crossing your tees.
Doesn't cost much.

Well, this one could get more involved then expected.

That probably makes it easier but I doubt that Needs to happen. You can get the factory tube in and out without doing any of that, worst case take the steering loose up top and that gives you a little more wiggle room. That’s only two 10mm nuts.

I was wondering why you couldn't just loosen up the steering stem, slip the little 5-in piece in place on the turbo and then come in with the remainder of the factory turbo inlet hose?
I am the best armchair quarterback you've ever seen. Just never made it to the playoffs. Lol
The steering shaft is fixed on a spline end at the bottom. Slides over buy 3 inches. You can take the top bolts off at the column but the post wont move a mm. The bolt that goes through the bottom of the steering shaft is much more accessible without the air plenum not to mention you can get a better look at how much length needs to be cut off the tube. Very simple and doesn't take much time at all. The shape of the crossover will not fit by the steering post. not even close.

Thats on a EPS sled Steve. I don't believe he has EPS.
The top of the non EPS steering post can be jacked up quite a bit to get the turbo air intake tube out.
I gotcha Mike, I hadn't considered that. Makes sense.

I've got eps, I'd buy it if it was less than 30min of bending over, spine in deteriorating quickly.

I had a chance to run this back to back yesterday. 24 lbs boost, so it's not a pump gas tune, this is on my chassis dyno, it went from 163 track hp to 165, or approximately 4 horsepower gain at the crankshaft. It's not terrible hard to change on a non-eps unit, simply remove the air box on the clutch guard, two steering post 10mm nuts, remove the BOV hose and then you can wiggle the tube out.
