I changed chaincase oil.. have a question

I drained oil and filled through the shift actuator hole like it says.
Now does the brass extension that has the single notch sit on the center rib of the silver piece with spring or one of the other two ribs.
I ask because when I pulled actuator off it came off smooth. And now when I go to put screws back in I have to twist the actuator some to get screw holes to line up.

Also how do I tell if the dealer actually did the reverse update they claim they did?
