Has anyone come up with a solution for this? I remember seeing something about someone working on a frog skin cover of some type? Does the Arctic Cat plastic grill work any better than the Yamaha. The Yamaha grill looks better but almost promotes snow build up. Any info appreciated.

At first, I just installed the AC grill. It was better but still a lot of snow build up if riding in powder. I decided to installed frog skin over the AC grill and snow build up is now minimal.

Barn of parts makes a frog skinned intercooler cover that works well.

Do anybody find any performance decrease with all this ice on the intercooler?

Yes, when it plugs up, RPMs will drop off as it heats up.

Is it an significant loss? Like night and day? Just asking because i have an BTX and planning some powder riding soon

I saw about a 400 RPM drop as the intercooler warmed up on bone stocker after plugging all the vents and intercooler last season flogging it in the deep snow. Yes, it was a pretty drastic performance drop.

I bought a Cat grill and will try that first, then pet screen or frogskin material as needed. One thing is for sure, you have to keep air flow going thru it and cooled properly.

Intake temps go from 30-50 deg up to 90 and 100 plus
