Interesting new track from Camso

I spent some time at Hay Days last month talking to one of the original designers of this track who also has spent a lot of time riding sleds with this track installed.

He told be that the durability of this track should be outstanding with the hardness of the durometer that they're using on this track and that it should work out great on a heavier sled like the SideWinder.

I'm going to be swapping out the stock track for the new Storm 150 on the new '18 SW LT-X LE that I've got coming in for my wife from Port Yamaha and will post up my thoughts on this new track once we get some miles on.
Hey Don, this track is super interesting and I'd love to hear some real feedback from you later. Let us know how much top end (if any) it loses over a 1.25 Ripsaw, if you have the chance to test that ;-)

I wonder if we could stud it w/o hitting the vents at the front of the tunnel.

I had my hands on this track at the Camso booth this weekend. I talked to the reps about the pros and cons of this track vs ripsaw 1.25 and 1.5 lug heights. Needless to say the new Storm 150 will be going on my SW 129 soon.

Been wanting to ask this for a while, is Camso the new name for Camoplast?? I keep thinking whatever happened to Camoplast tracks...they were the big name for years???? Or is Camoplast and Camso two different companies?

Ok, just answered my own question lol. I watched the video of Levi Levallee down in Chile testing the new Storm Track, and at the end of the video, it said Camso was formerly Camoplast. So mystery solved for me anyway lol.

What did the rep say about the Storm 150 vs the Ripsaw II 1.5"? They came out with the Ripsaw II 1.5" two years ago I think. I talked with the rep at that time and they said it was more like a version of the Intense vs just a taller version of the Ripsaw II 1.25". I've been running the Ripsaw II 1.5" for two seasons and I love it.

I told him what kind of riding I do, tight trails to long rail beds, no off trail but I break trails often. I dont lake ride or ice race. He recommended the Storm 150. Also said that the Storm will provide more top end speed than the Ripsaw 1.5 although that did not factor in my decision.
The Storm, with its focus on letting the sled turn easier, appealed to me.
The 1.25 sneaker on the Sidewinder in anything but lake riding is crazy to me. I noticed right away that the 1.25 was not moving enough snow to harness the Winder. I would think most people would consider a track change on these sleds before studding the crap out of them. Studs do little to nothing in loose trails conditions. I will probably stud this track with 2 INS Hornets per row for now.
I wish there was ICE version of this track, I would order that instead. I asked the Rep about an ICE version and he said "maybe in the future"

VERY interested in this track as well. Would like to hear how it performs both on trail and off. The design appears to show "bosses" molded into the track that could easily hold their traction devices (studs). Might have to wait a year for an "ice" version of this track.

The Camso rep said they will no longer offer single ply tracks. He claimed they dont sell. The perception is that the 2 ply is stronger, even if it isn't necessarily so.

I was toying with the Ice Cobra 1.6, but was leary of the 'float' that the cobra has, when remembered the Storm 150. I think i will head to my dealer tomorrow to swap out the stock track on my yet to be assembled 50th Sidewinder for the Storm 150. it is supposed to be better for acceleration and stopping than both Ripsaw and Cobra.

Good choice. ;)!

I'll be installing the new Storm 150 track in both of our SW's this season and will report back with the results.

Mine has been on order for close to 3 weeks, not yet in stock yet. Getting anxious.

STAIN.....Hopefully you should see yours soon. I picked up a new SW last week from Port Yamaha and they had my new Storm 150 ready to go. They had ordered it from a distributor, WPS and had received it the previous week.

I have an 1.6ice cobra on a low output 2stroke. It trail rides with great mannors in both braking & accelerating also gives confidence when it the looser stuff as well.

Studs are there for safety only. And work on ice as predicted. Thru gas station parking lots, up & down hills etc.
