Interesting Skid Shock Spring info

I don't know, you need to ask them ;) I was just trying to translate from Swedish.

I have gone for a stiffer and longer center spring.

Birkebeiner

I have a 160# progressive cat spring on my 15' XTX and I now have about 3 inches of sag after I lift the track and set it down. That's new. The only difference in set up was the stock spring preload was in the middle from factory and new spring preload is reduced until rattle then tighten a couple turns. Anyone else experience that after installing heavier spring?

I just also swapped out my factory spring for the 160 lb spring.
I only have two turns of pre load and the sag is the same or less.

Do you mean sag after you sit on the seat? I mean sag without sitting on the seat . I lift the track off the ground and then set it back down and the bumper drops about 3 inches. That did not happen before I changed the spring.

That makes sense since its a dual rate spring. Should ride real plush like that. Transfer will be better also. Try it. If you dont like the sag just preload it a bit more.

Yes as the suspension is finally doing its job. Wait till you try it ;)

Tried mine with the new spring around the yard.
I noticed the sled now pushes a bit while turning.
While I was at it I also added a set of sly dog powder hounds. I was thinking these would be more aggressive then the stock cat mtn skis and harder to turn. It's just the opposite....very light steering. so I assume the stiffer spring is making a big difference.
Just need some snow for actual ride feel test.

I put 150mi on last thursday with the cat version. It is dual rate. Spend the $ and get a straight rate like Stingray has. I ended up putting so much preload to get rid of heavy front that the dual rate tightly wound part of spring was totally compressed and was no longer being used anymore. Straight rate is the way to go. That said I did find the sweet spot and was easily able to get front end light for even 4 ft rollers at 60mph "Testing". Higher rate helped alot. Not sure if you can see them in pic but this was ungroomed and big nice rollers for 30mi into Baraga. FUN!

Do you think us rtx/ltx guys could benefit from adding a 160# front spring? I've always had hard steering since day one with my ltx.

I always though the 135 pound spring put in the trail sleds was to weak, glad you tested it.
