It’s In! Venom Mountain

Primary spring is not on the chart. Looks like 0951-1040 tough to see. Leaving stock for now.

Steve, it's going to work. You put the penny heads up.
I should not have to be doing this. Ridiculous that they cant even get clutching close stock. Dont understand this especially since the Demos worked fine and no parts are available or manuals Yamaha or Cat. Sure makes a guy think.

Steve, why are you going thru all this expense. It’s brand new and is broken. Wouldn’t taking it to the dealer to have them fix it be an option for you?

Because its time to ride! No parts are available and no service manuals either. Dealer cant do anything and is in contact with Cat and Yamaha directly over the issues.

It is pathetic.

True that. It's just unfortunate that 10 years ago, you wouldn't fathom something like this coming from Yamaha. Used to be a time where those three tuning forks emblems meant something. This is NOT meant as a bash to the Yamacats but Yamaha's reputation when it came to quality.

Yup price for everything. Way more fun now but organization and support took a hit.

Moving on. Will test clutching tomorrow. I installed Rocks power supply. In bag since gps will be in the bag along with phone. Could also put heated shield on if wanted. I went to headlight. Power at hi lo switch and ground at the bulb. Did not want to have to disconnect another wire to pull hood off. All wires were soldered, shrink wrapped and taped.

Ok 13g wasn’t enough so 14g is now in. Took a few pics to give idea on how to put clutch back together.
COVER NUT IS 130Ft/Lbs
BOLT IS 51Ft/Lbs

It comes apart after bolt and nut removed. Easy. Then to install spring needs to be compressed. Put nut on bolt with some loctite on nut. Line up mark you made on shaft, cover and sheave. Make sure mark is on end of shaft. You need this to get hex of cover on hex of shaft in same spot. Push in hard as you can the thread bolt with nut on it in. Use bolt as compressor keeping marks lined up and sheave straight. Thread it and nut on by hand. Once you think it’s seated remove bolt and make sure cover is seated and lined up with mark on end of shaft you made. Then torque it. Done. Second time took two minutes. 10 with weight change.

14g worked. Never hit limiter pinned as far as I wanted. Video shows it did hit 7700 but never felt limiter. Was spinning so. 7600-7650 looks to be the ideal target. I am happy. Getting 65mph out of it. That’s more than enough for a Mountain sled!

I really owe NosPro this year. First the clutching on Viper and now he literally saved my butt! I absolutely hated the stock seat. He dropped off my refurbished Apex clutch and happened to mention he had a Mountain Max seat! Didn’t fit his Winder but does fit my Venom. Shipped next day! Oh my gosh what a difference. Made the sled looks wise too! Very happy! Terry and Tim at Thunder Products are getting a steak meal on me at Foggys for group ride. Just look at it!
