Ive never owned a yamaha sled,but i drove my friends last year,and fell in love! Bought an 08 phazer 526 miles. Im coming off a 99 z440 sno-pro which served me well for 8 years! While going through it, ive found some concerns to address. Grease fittings for everything i can. The rear upper idlers,are junk,and i cant find a suitable replacement. I need one coated with rubber. I will machine an existing one to fit the 55mm bearing if i can find a 7" wheel with enough material in the center. Supposedly the front a-arm bent for little or no reason. I removed it,applied heat,and a lot of force,and it didnt want to return home! I dont dare build a stronger arm for fear of damaging the front mounts. Not sure what to do there. Bolt on top a-arm came loose and wiped out the hole in the ski mount. Welded and re-cut the hole. Milky chaincase lube! Maybe sucked snow in through vent? Oil change was a major hassle! Once a year is the cool part!! Found a dead link to a service manual.If anyone has a current link,it would be much appreciated! Think i will remove front end next time. Many of the skid bushings are junk,however i think a little grease will go a long way!!! The front balljoints are completely cashed. I think warranty will handle this(friends 07 has 2600m and is still tight, seems to be a material problem that has been rectified). I need a bigger windshield. Can anyone verify that a gt windshield will fit a rtx without buying a new mount? I also would like saddlebags for a weekend worth of storage. Any recomendations? My friends was a pleasure to ride! I look forward to piling the miles on this beast!

why do u have the crapy shocks on the front if its a rtx? should be fox floaters. just buy yamaha wheels for the bad one. they are prolly burned up from not brakeing the ice out of the skid befor taking off.

Nice rip renegade! Got any answers? The floats are in for warranty. The idlers are almost certainly wiped out from being stuck on morning freeze up. This doesnt happen with rubber coated wheels too often,but is a constant problem with aluminum,and hard plastic wheels in this position(not enough track contact). Know of any 7" wheels with enough meat to machine out for 55mm? The overall appearance of the machine is exactly what i would expect in one season,i just posted pics of the bad! The arm looks like crap,but is functional untill a replacement is bought. Have you dropped your skid yet? If not,dont be judgemental,i think you will be surprised at the condition. One of the needle bearings in the lower link had moisture in it. This would take another season to fail. Hyfax wear is obviously a problem judging by the posts. Additional wheels will net you broken skids due to the weakening from the hole! Im looking for answers,not cuts. Neither of you have luggage,or a service manual?

what is the brearing? 6004? or 6005? 20 or 25 mm inside? wheels off an older mach z are 7.5 and have a 25 mm inner hole. i used them on my SXR when i had my ohlins in it. needed the extra track clearance for teh resivor. i would say that would be ur best bet. im prtty sure ist gonna be a a 25 mm ID. go to a dealer and just look up the dimentions of the aftermarket wheels u can buy.

parts unlimited part numbers 04-11679 and 4702-0064 are 7.125 wheels with 6205 bearing. i would look into them.

The idler wheels measure 7' dia,23mm wide and approx 65mm,or 2.5" in the section the bearing goes in. 30mm id. 55mm od.13mm wide bearing. Looked into the wheels on parts unlimited. Cant actually measure the cross section. 04-11677 has potential also. Im pretty sure no other snowmobile yamaha or not uses this configuration. I will gladly machine out the bearing pocket if i can find a wheel with enough beef in the center(probobly a solid wheel).

read the number on the seals of the bearing. should be 6205 rs. of they are what i think the last number u times by 5 and it gives u the measurment of the shaft. 25mm. if it is a 25mm shaft uper wheeles off the proaction skid should also work.

I shoulda included that! Bearing is 6006 rd. Its also possible to get a custom bearing with 30mm id, and whatever od comes with a standard 7"wheel. Whats the bearing od on the aforementioned wheels.If its not way off of 55mm its a possibility.Machining costs me nothing though!

6205 looks to be 52 od but your issue might be the width. 15 for the 6205, 13 for the 6006.
You could probably add a 2mm spacer and only need to bore 3mm.
Of course, if your boring 3mm, you may be able to re-groove the circlip at the right depth to not use spacers,
depending on how the wheel tracks with the new offset, and how deep the origional groove is.

I used a parts unlimited 7" wheel for some other yamaha application. The bearings throughout the sled were greaseable with a needle,except the 30mm idler bearings (large seal step) so i had to pry the seals out. The pic shows the original bearing in the new pocket. No bearings with 30mm id and 52mm od were found, so machining seems to be the only option at this point. I will do a batch of these if there is enough interest. The saddle bags are from gears. They are good for the price,but i wish i had sprung for the factory yamaha! This was a very difficult skid to get back under the sled. Lots of bolts in the way. I think the front end was sitting too high,but i really had to fight to get the front lined up. Cake walk after that! I installed the new,better front ball joints with the id marks-much improvement! Ive been through most of the sled,looks good! The only moving suspension peices i cant grease are the shock ends. Ive never landed on a decision whether to lube clutches or not. I tefloned my sno-pro with no real ill results. Anybody got real reasons for or against it? Followed a few service manual links,but they are all dead. If anyone has a current link it would be much appreciated!
