Looking for help on how to hold primary clutch for torquing?

I had seen that pic of yours @ROCKERDAN do you just hold the holder in your hand? Just not. Very long when you have a 1/2 torque wrench and going to 108 ft lbs
Best to lock it in somewhere when really laying into it. Especially when popping off a primary thats a bugger, you need to have solid spot to lay holder tool against. And a long breaker bar.

Be sure never to rotate primary backwards...only normal forward motion ever.

Yeah I'm sure I have spun it backwards a bit already last time I tried to torque it down which is why this post. Seems to run fine so I'm hoping nothing bad happened.

I will take pics when I re-torque it tomorrow and post them.

Ill stick this here for ya too....

Thanks Dan, TD suggests going to 64ft lbs on the re-torque after the 108ft lbs saying 43 isnt enough with tuned sleds but not sure if that's valid.

I believe Ben at TD recommends 50ft lbs. initial at 108 ft lbs then loosen and final torque 50 ft lbs

What I posted is YAMAHA......I usually put more on my final though. I run 75 for final like all my sleds since 80s. Seems to always work.

Ya in the vid he says 65 ft lbs for second step, but in the facts he posted 55ft lbs. I thought it was 50 ft lbs.

Yeah looks like that's from 2016, vid is from 2017 so I guess he increased his recommendation for the second stage to 65. Must be a reason so I will do the same.

Ok I used a broom handle against the A Arm, was careful to insert it into the clutch at just the right spot to avoid any reversing of clutch.

Was anticipating something breaking but torqued it to ~108 ft lbs then backed off then ~60 ft lbs. Not sure thr accuracy of my torque wrench, will be on thr lookout for a new one.

Crowbar wrapped in duct tape works for me

Can't believe they want that much on a tapered fit. I believe my cat clutch is 51ft lbs then back off and set at 51 again.
