I'm thinking of getting this sled for next year and putting either a Turbo or SC on it.
So looking for your feedback on how you like your sleds this year.
Issues?
What sled did you ride before this one?
Will you buy another?
Put a turbo or SC on? If so...whose kit?
thanks, Chuck

I personally love my apex i like it mroe then the rev beacause if its ride and carving ease.it may be a bit heavier but i ride with enough people so when im stuck its not a issue.and next year with boost it will eb the best.every problem i have had has either been fixed or is in the process.

So far I really like mine. It definitely takes sometime getting used to it and has a completely diferent feel than anything I have ridden to date. It seems to have a fine balance line when leaning the sled to carve turns...at a point it wants to roll-over easily on it's side. I have about 300 miles on mine now (150 stock & 150 w/ MPI SC). I think I have the sled figured out quite well and am really beginning to enjoy it.
The MPI SC kit...??? So far it is a love hate relationship. I have had a few problems, but it definitely makes great power. My expectations were that for the most part (other turbo/sc Apex's aside) it would set highmarks and be untouchable but that is not the case. I have had several 2-stroke NOS sleds and 1 900 Polaris w/ a turbo "show me the way". Definitely disappointed with that result.
The kit installs clean, the fuel injection mapping is good, relatively easy to clutch (changing things hasn't shown much difference). Like I said, over-all I am happy, just maybe had my expectations a little to high.
Here in CO we have short climbs as compared to BC so I would figure out where you ride. For long climbs (BC, etc.) I would definitely go Turbo otherwise the SC kit is a great option.
Hope this helps and feel free to contact me if you have questions.

I have about 700 miles on mine so far
Good
- Smooth Linear Power
- Throttle Response
- EFI (no jetting for different riding areas)
- Track, the Maverick has worked really well in all the conditions I have ridden in
- Balance of the sled
- Riding position (bars/seat)
- Decent fuel consumption, seems to use more than my RX - probably due to larger track and the HP increase
Needs Improvement
- Handwarmers are not as warm as the RX1's
- Hyfax seem to be wearing faster than my RX1 did
- Yamaha should continue on weight loss program (so far they have cut lbs. each year from the 4 stroke sleds - hopefully this will continue in 07) 10 lbs should be the goal for this year, or offer a LE version with Fox Floats and titanium springs in the rear skid and charge an extra $500

I came off a LW RMK 800.
I have MPI S/C that was setup by TJ Sports.
I love the balance and handling of the sled. Sure its heavier than my RMK was, but I don't have any troubles boondocking or sidehilling.
Good
-Enging braking coming downhill is awesome.
-Ease of changing directions whether hillclimbing or boondocking, sled is balanced very well
-Power w S/C is pretty good. Does not have the top end I expected, but I haven't been himarked by a naturally aspirated two stroke.
-Suspension/Ride is really good. I'm bottoming out a bit more than I like, but recently made some adjustments I hope will help.
Needs improvement
-Handwarmers
-Windshield is worthless
-Snow injestion in bottomless powder
-It needs a diet, if it was 550 dry it would be so awesome stock
Like 5280FT I have a love/hate relationship with my MPI SC right now. Love the setup from TJ's. It keeps getting better too! Hate the service and treatment I've received from MPI concerning my SC kit. Horrible doesn't even begin to describe the way they treated me. Right now I wouldn't spend another dime with MPI.
Sidenote: We took out a demo Apex Mtn the other day for comparison purposes. It was a blast to ride, I had so much fun playing on the stocker when we would switch. Just needs more power after having mine with boost.
