"Due for new". My knew 2017 slogan. Sold my house, buying 4 new guns, new bike, new girlfriend & hopefully new 190 hp Yamaha that makes me feel like a virgin.

If the new machine seen in the teasers is in fact a new trail/lakerunner im pretty sure it will be a 4banger in it.
Dont think the 3cylinder can replace the Apex even if its turbocharged. The loyal customers will miss the grunt in the 4 to much.
I really hope it will be the crossplane 4 in it + its by far the most technology advanced engine in the blue camp and should therefore
be the choice for the top of the line sled.

Say what you want. But Yamaha replaced 800 vmax 4 with the 700 srx. And hadent made an 800 since, the apex fits in with that class but isn't really an 800 class competitor other than hp. The displacement it in the 600 class range. Which makes it more impressive but still Yamaha is not in the top teir on performance motors 100%

Indeed! But the SRX actually outperformed the V-max 4 and the Apex can go against anything.
Its a hole lot about the state of the art technology also and to show off the competion who s the boss.
Think about it, an Etec 800 vs crossplane 4! Wich engine u think is the most advanced?

But Yamaha replaced 800 vmax 4
No they didn't. They quit without a replacement.

I had a 14 viper xtx. Not one issue. By far the flattest trail sled I've been on. No complaints. I also sold it. Not because of any issues but to try something new while I still have the ability to.

I'd like to hear some more Viper love stories. LOL
On a different note, it's been a week since we got a post from CR - I would think we'd see something soon. Get some more indirect clues to spin the web a little more. I think we might make 100 pages before release!

Damn are you Fox News reporting on things trump says? Here I'll break it down for you since you appear to be slow.No they didn't. They quit without a replacement.
1 Yamaha had a vmax 4 800 (4cyl)
2 they stopped making it and made a 3cyl 700 srx
3 everyone's saying they can't replace a 4cyl apex with the 3cyl from viper.
4 im pointing out that that they have done this before with the vmax 4 and srx that replaced it.
If you wanna nitpick over "replaced" you can. Don't worry I'm a big boy but your ignorance and your stomping your feet and crying that they "JUST STOPPED" making them is sad. They have had a history of trying to limit the motor sizes by holding back on their lines and trying to keep everyone "safer"

2009 Phazer MTX
I would say you hit the nail on the head!! best guess a new 110 hp twin Phazer 2 in a redesigned artic/Yamaha body, that is the new engine your hearing in that teaser video this is the hole that needed to be filled in the Yamaha line, they already have the upper engine horse power in different platforms and possibly a new flagship redesigned apex in the same new body style, I can't see Yamaha going back to a 2 stroke but maybe between cat and Yamaha a redesigned 800 ctec, see what happens
As much as I'd like a new light weight 100ish HP Phazer replacement I just don't think that goes along with "warning to the competition" and "Don't Blink" unless they somehow really have a lightweight 4 stroke on there hands. Hell, if they just refreshed the current Phazer with Nytro race geometry up front, dropped 35#, and bumped it to 100hp I'd be spring ordering. That would be the mythical 450# 4 stroke

Haha ya ok. I know you are wrong because ive seen them all weighed.. and even if I didnt, you can feel a huge difference when you ride them. Thats what matters the most.
My Viper hanging from a cert scale is 597lbs full of gas and ready to ride. Its been posted here. A '14 Doo Renegade 800 137" with a 485lb "dry" weight, 10.5 gallons of gas at 7lbs/gal, 1 gallon of coolant, and NO oil is 565lbs. Its simple math, a 32lb difference. Maybe you should do a little homework before you start blabbing about weights.
Tapex I agree but when you are in 8ft+ of snow or jumping 30ft+ doubles and driveways at 90mph that 32lbs feels like 200 lbs. Then imagine in a SnoCross! Every single lb counts. Many have spent thousands of $ losing even a 1/2lb. There is a reason. Because its faster, handles better and is more fun. Is it as reliable and efficient $ wise? Heck no but many of us just want the best possible and that varies with each of our uses and preferences. Just sick of modding to get what I want. Oh and the bar goes up with expectations every year of mods. Always want more! Or less in this case.

I get it, and I have a ton of $$$ into my Nytro. And I've dug it out plenty of times out west. My point was at the 100lb comment that was made.

If in fact it is a crossplane inline 4 that will be a unique sled indeed. For those not so much into bikes the Crossplane was developed in the R1 with an odd firing order to make it a more tractable engine out of corners. Sounds almost like a V-twin or V-four but is in fact an inline 4. Could mean even better hookup and traction than the "old" Apex powerplant. Oh and they sound just plain awesome!!

I ride mountain sleds. So you can take another 40lbs off the dry weight of that renegade.. like I said ive seen them all hung on scales. You dont need to tell me my sled isnt heavy I know it is, especially after a day riding. Lol
