good to hear will be sending mine in pronto soon as I get my copper exhaust gasket in. Was going to doThe air box mod tomorrow , but a bit nervous bout that if its leaner at 5-9000 rpm. At idle and lower end I would think the air box mod wouldn't matter even if the flash is a bit leaner.

It would be reassuring to hear from one of the professional performance builders related to the topic as many are concerned about running lean.
I personally think calibration was only adjusted to support improved starting and at riding speeds the calibration probably isn’t much different.
That said, we really won’t know until we get details from Yamaha or some conducts some performance testing.

I wonder if that is the issue. Lack of the YSDT. Maybe they borrow one or Yammy lends them one. Small dealer.Wrong! It's available to all dealers NOW. If they know how to use a computer they have it, as long as they have the YSDT to perform the download to the ECU.

ScWhat dealer did your flash? I am the guy from Texas with a cabin in the UP. I asked the closest dealer this week while I am here and was told they were not scheduled to get it until 3rd week of Jan. Doesn’t make sense to me so might give another dealer a try when I return in Feb.
Scratch THAT dealer off your list... Every dealer had it sent to them on 12/21/18...They are not trying at all for a Yamaha customer that has a short season as it is! Shi)%^ty service like that gets my motor running and a call to Yamaha. What dealer did your flash? I am the guy from Texas with a cabin in the UP. Any dealer recommendations in the UP. My cabin is about 40 miles south of Munising. I don’t mind losing half a day to get this done.

Picked up the Vipers from the dealer this morning. Like most have said idle is very consistent @ 1500 after coming down from 1700 at start up. All 3 seemed to take a little longer to fire on initial start. Temp was 30*, loaded them up drove 45 minutes to the shop. They all fired up fairly quick for unloading but coolant temp was around 100 still. Heading UP for a week next Saturday, will have plenty more on this new flash in a couple of weeks.

I’d sure like to hear about some real cold starts. -10°F or so would give a guy a good idea of what things are going to do.

Yikes!! My Hurricane Turbo Viper would get 14.5 mpg all day and a bit over 16mpg if I was civil.Same MPG here. Sometimes it will only get 10mpg.

Can someone with update please let us know if max rpm has changed? With my current pcv maping i mite not bother with new map if it doesnt increase rpm, as mine now starts at -20 easily.

That's the difference from having the gems fuel controller from mpi, hurricane uses power Commander, way more tunability and custom maps.Yikes!! My Hurricane Turbo Viper would get 14.5 mpg all day and a bit over 16mpg if I was civil.

No intent here to bash a dealer, however it was Cycle City in Escanaba that said they wouldn’t have it until 3rd week of Jan.Yup, Meyer Yamaha or cycle city in Escanaba , their a cat and Yamaha dealer so they should've had the flash week's ago

I spoke with Port Yamaha last week about the new flash. They didn’t know for sure but HIGHLY doubted there was any change to max RPM. They said Yamaha would not be looking to modify that, just focused on calibration to solve starting issues.
However until this is actually confirmed we really don’t know...
