Does anyone regret purchasing from the new model line up in 2006. Being the first to run each model sled and in turn be the first to find the problems. Over all was it worth it?

I bought an rtx. and put on 1400 miles
had minor overheating problems which made me park on the side of the trail 4 or 5 times. actually all my over heating problems happened during the same weekend so it was only a temporary issue.
I did nothing to the sled at the time but will be changing my antifreeze mix in the fall.
blew out 3 idler/bogie wheels. took them off myself and brought my bill of sale with the vin# and the wheels to a different dealer who gave me 4 wheels no questions asked.
hand warmers suck, but to be honest my hands never got cold so it was not an issue for me.
i will upgrade to the 30 dollar fix in the fall just to be safe.
in my opinion yamaha is treating people fair at 30 bucks, no complaint there.
my track was rubbing my shock and i fabricated 2 little wheels and a longer shock bolt to resolve that issue. took me all of 45 minutes to fix.
I understand it never should have happened in the first place but it is an easy fix and i don't feel inconvenienced.
Those are the issues i have experienced and to be honest i don't consider them issues. I love the sled. It was definately worth it and if i had to do it over again i would buy 2 of them, just in case i crash one.
not too sure about everyone else on here but when i see the issues the other sled manufactures have with thier sleds i sit back and laugh about the little things i have had to endure with yamaha.
I am not pointing fingers or trying to brand bash but when your sled catches fire, or the clutch explodes, or the starter ring gear expoldes, or the gas tank breaks and leaks fuel all over you, or it gets stuck in reverse and won't go forward, then you have a problem.
for a good read about a new sleds with some problems go to dootalk.com and read
gade catches fire. i think the guys name is
earlyrider.
i read the story about his sled the end of last year and i almost felt bad for skidoo and thier problems.
sorry went on a little rant there.
yes love the sled, do it over again in a heart beat!!

No regrets with my 06 sleds, only major down time was due to a crack in my radiator, no biggy dealer replaced and all is good, replaced my outside wheels before I rode it and after 800 miles the inside ones blew but I had spares with me. I can't be more happier about my purchases

I absolutely love my GT... awsome ride and handling.. SUPER FAST..
Only thing i had problems with , were rear shock wire breaking and shock blew out, and handwarmers never got really warm..
This is the first time in a long time where i plan on keeping the sled till its payed off! (usually i buy new every 2 years)

Not at all. In fact, I think the 2006 model is the best snowmobile I have ever owned and see no need to upgrade.

Well Time will tell...
So far I'm not impressed with the pressure and the heat that the monoshock supension generate. I been trought many many wheels, 3 sets of slides, 1 track, 1 exhaust pipe, 1 drive shaft.
I think last year for many people, lack of snow stop them of putting big miles onto theirs new sleds. Will see this year if I'm the only one complaining about the under cariage...

I lost count but I've changed over 24 wheels under there + it's not fun trying to follow others while fighting your slides and overheat condition. (for this problem, I'm installing scratchers. I think that will solve my overheat problem and sliders on hard pack snow trails)
Don't get me wrong I love my GT but I'm telling from my expecience and millage the troubles I had.
Also I'm thinking of getting extented warranty but in Canada it's 1000$.

Did the bearings go on the drive shaft or some other problem cause the failure?

yummy
congrats on all those miles. 6730 in a season is awesome!!
not trying to be a wise #*$&@ here but 24 wheels is a little excessive. after i changed the same wheel for the 2nd time i would be looking at a completely different wheel. companies like shadetree and a few others guarantee them for life. obviously there were some issues in the beginning with wheels and to the best of my knowledge yamaha made upgraded replacements available. I have not heard of anyone (till now) having problems with the upgraded ones.
(i am talking about the u.s.a. I have no idea what canada does)
in my opinion 2200 miles out of a set of hyfax does not seem all that bad. i had to change mine at 600 miles. no biggie there, i view them as a wear item. 10 bucks a pop.
What's the deal with the drive shaft and the exhaust. Can you explain some?
I am assuming that if you blew out as many wheels as you did. put on as many miles as you did and overheated the hyfax & stuck the hyfax to the track
a few times. all that combined with almost 7000 miles caused the track to go. Did the track take out the exhaust?
My friends and i ride maine and we average a track every other season or aprox 4000 miles so although i do hear your complaint i really dont see it as a downfall to the sled but i do understand that if you were not having the suspension/heat problems the track would probably still be there.
let us know what's up with the driveshaft and exhaust please!!

My dad had the same problem on his 2005 Venture TF, so he cut out the rest of the windows on the crapsaw track, then clipped them, then instead of using the factory issued sliders, used narrower VK540 sliders. Reason for this was that the standard TF sliders were covering up the entire track window, and the narrower VK540 sliders will allow more snow through the track indows, and provide more lubrication.
Now for two seasons that have already passed, we have been fighting with the TF burning sliders, and the smell of burning sliders on a trip was a very current smell, and after trying so many different things, the combo of clipping, cut all windows and VK540 sliders fixed the problem. Thing works awsome now.
Bought the scratchers just in case, and havent installed them yet as there was no need to.
Just thought id mention that....
