Doo front end, where to start. It rides poor compared to Cat & Polaris. It has quite a bit of bump steer built in, twitchy because of this. Lifts inside skis on cornering. Has poor plastic bushings that end up toast in just a few thousand miles, and it steers hard once you try to dial it all in and make it handle. Part of the problem is the rear suspension too. It like to lift skis at will, which make the inside ski lift easier and more pronounced. To make life even partially livable and make the Doos corner, means tightening up the front limiter, which helps inside ski lift and handling on them but make turning even harder. But to go harder and corner on them the ride suffers even more. Its really hard to make a Doo do anything well. The Cat chassis just works and works so well in most all conditions. You can go hard and fast all the time on it and ride does not suffer. Limiters don't need tightened to make it corner and handle well.

IMO the newest Cat/Procross sled just ride and handle so much better and it seems to get better ever year. This is the one area where I will really hand it to Cat. The 2012 ProCross was a real hot mess, Didn't think I'd ever own another ProCross after that shet box, but one ride on a 17 I knew I'd have to make the switch from Doo, even though my 1200 turbo was so light & fast. I hated the handling and ride of it. The 17 LE really won me over for a fat pig of a sled. The Doo guys just can't come close to keeping up with us if we want to pick up the pace. Two-Strokes or four strokes, doesn't matter. We have to ride a slower pace for them to keep up. I could give a F less about a gauge. I don't look at a gauge anyway when we run the pace we run. The gauge don't make a sled. If I want GPS I can add that above the gauge. All anyone talks about is the gauge it seems. F'n geek kid stuff is what that is. They need their Nintendo on a sled I guess......
I don’t know how you could look at a gauge like Doo has on a Sidewinder If you’re pushing that thing you’ve got to focus or you’ll end up off the trail.

Running 300hp trailriding their is not a sled to run with us. I put mirrors on my sled just so I can watch how bad I am pulling away from those Polaris 's!
The same will happen with the new Quebec junk!

From what I saw on my last upcountry trip, that Boost should come stock with a Tow Strap, so don’t get too far ahead, otherwise it may take a while to find them!!!

Sorry, I didn’t realize this was a Doo thread, so same will probably hold true for any 2 stroke Doo trying to ride day after day chasing a tuned,Pump Gas Winder or Cat!

It's nice to try all different brands. My new SRX is my 6th winder I have owned since 2017 and have ranged from 280hp tuned to upgraded turbo Motec setup with 350hp. Have always had a Doo in the stable at the same time whether it be a 375hp Motec 1200 or a Motec 900 or currently a Mach Z with close to 400hp on the trail running auxiliary injection from a tunnel bag mounted tank filled with c16 that automatically feeds the little 900 c16 when boost goes beyond 20lbs. Runs 35psi on the trail and only uses a liter or less of c16 for an average 200mile aggressive trail ride.

Have to say though I really like the power steering and the look of the new SRX. Only running 280hp tune with exhaust and clutching this year but may take it further for next season.

Also have a Doo 850 Turbo R coming to try for next season too as just a play sled. Should be a fun setup too.

All in good fun! I bet nobody would have guessed the quickest and most powerful trail sled in the pic was the Mach which is fun too as it leaves a lot of people scratching their heads. Just for reference the wrapped black winder in the pic is a buddy's 350hp Stage 5 sled with built engine making 350 on pump which is an awesome setup but the baby Mach is 5mph faster in 660' believe it or not. It cost a fortune to get the Mach to that point but again it's unique and a sleeper because as we all know in stock form the Mach is pretty lack luster performance wise and can't even keep up with a stock winder if you could find one. Only stock winders around here are still in crates...

Yes agree, and if I had your sled combos of Plenty, I surely would plant myself in a Winter home where riding lasts for 4-5 months out of the year!

Holy #*$&@ man, you rule with your sleds!

Relevant info, user friendly, visually appealing and well tested. The big Y has such a wealth of fantastic and tested tech it can pull from throughout it’s Motorsports division, makes it all the more frustrating that the Snowmobile division is in the position it’s been put in currently. SMH
I think the snowmo division of Yamaha is treated like an orphan forced to live with a distant relative. Yamaha corporate is not interested in expanding their presence. They are happy selling surplus engines to cat to help amortize engine cost across several product lines. If they treated their sleds like the R1, Yamaha owners would be very happy.

And the 15hp is guaranteed!!!! So long as the meth is pumping. Once it's out.... you're back to 165hp.

Just try to imagine how frustrating it will be to be out on the trail and have used up the performance maintaining douche. :o|

The real downside is if one of my doo buddies buys one, who is going to carry all my stuff now that they have to carry oil and windshield washer fluid. Damnit.

That's true, my doo friends are usually good for carrying stuff in their storage areas. :)
