its spendy even when you already own floats , but thats the name of the game . i would be more inclined to buy this kit if i didn't just crack 90% through both of my rails .

Considering what I have already spent on my sled, what is some more. It is still cheaper than buying a new one, and I know that it will be one less thing to wear out for awhile.
Hey Scmurs...there is a fella on HCS saying that the trail kit will be 42" wide and will have a sway bar mounting location...but Skinz doesn't recommend lunting a sway bar...can you confirm that info?

So can I fit this or do I need new shocks??

Stock shocks will not work. There is not enough material available to do the upgrade to the spherical bearing ends. Seems to me you would not get the full advantage of the setup with the stock shocks. I have a new skid in mine now and it sure makes me wish the front shocks worked like the ones I have in the rear now.
It does make the kit pricey to buy all of that but I have accepted the fact nothing about this sport is cheap if you want to really push your sled and yourself

Shaddow,
The trail kit will be 42" and will have mounting points for the sway bar. They do not believe that the sway bar will be needed with the Fox Evol-R shocks, but are providing mounts for the sway bar because not everyone will opt for the upgrade in shocks.

Well, I must say we had NO IDEA how popular this kit would be. Especially this late in the season!
If you are interested, we highly recommend you take a serious look at the PRE-ORDER buy in. It looks as though these kits will be VERY hard to get next season.
As Scott mentioned above, we also received word from Jeff that there will INDEED BE A 42" WIDE VERSION for the shorties as well as the XTX!!! It will have SWAYBAR MOUNTS, although we still don't feel they are necessary...
Reserve your kit today!
42" wide models will be up on the site soon!

True, motorsports are expensive no matter how you look at them. I am just trying to get my head around how much it's going to cost me for something that the factory should have had right. I have no problem spending the money. Most other sled manufacturers have a decent front end on them, the '08 Nytro is nearly a disaster. So to fix a factory defect, I have to spend $1750, that's frustrating, and has nothing to do with being cheap.
This is my first year into snow machining, I have two sleds, the 08 Nytro that I purchased used this year with only 380 miles, and an 02 Ski Doo Summit. I have a list of what I want/need to do to the Nytro:
Skinz front end
Schmidtt Bros Clutch
WRP running boards
Powerclaw Track
Trail Tank
Roest skid plate
OFT tether
OFT relocator
Boost
With various other sundries and I am looking at spending nearly $8K on this sled. I paid around $5K for it. So I put the trade in or outright sale of the Nytro and the $8K I'll spend on it and I almost have the price of a brand new Cat 4 stroke turbo. I am guessing I'll want to accessorize a Cat too, but, at least with the older cats, the front end was pretty sorted, and the Cat comes with boost. Things that make you say Hmmmmm.
Part of how I feel is this is all brand new to me and I don't have any particular love for anything I have yet. The Yamaha is wonderful for quality, the engine is awesome in feel, I fully trust it to run for a long time. It's a little weak, so boost becomes almost an necessity. I don't mind spending the money for a nice sled, but it's frustrating to put a lot of money into this sled to fix some things that shouldn't be broken in the first place.
Thanks Scmurs and Moto...could you guys post up some info in the shorty forum with regards th the trail kit...I'd bet alot of us flat landers would be interested. I am interested in this kit but want to use my stock fox floats...which is why I've been curious about the sway bar mount. I've heard without a swaybar on a sled that you must use alot of body english, and I'm no sno crosser, just a semi aggressive trail rider. Thanks again guys!
Casaflyr,
The F1100 non turbo compares more equally with the Nytro. I have a feeling the sled will be a sales flop since the vast majority of riders do not want a 4-stroke. This means you should be able to find a marked down F1100 this fall or spring and save a bunch of money. The Nytro will still have a better, more powerful motor. but I'm pretty confident the Cat will be a better all around chassis. It would be pretty hard to build anything that handles worse than a stock Nytro.

I have to say yes the front end may be flawed but I do alot of tight tree riding and recently started back at the hills. I have no issues with boondocking through the trees and I think it does just fine side hilling. Now maybe it is because I do not know any better but I have a ridden a few other brands and quite frankly I really did not like them. I have not had the chance to ride a pro but just by standing one i would suspect that I would like it. Rode M sleds and did not feel it was anything special. Thats my opinion though

I've had a chance to ride a few Cats, a Poo Dragon, my Nytro and my Summit. I found the Nytro OK side-hilling, one of the Cat riders had to bail and gather it up and regain the hill, where me the newbie on a Nytro was able to make the whole side-hill.akvector said:I have to say yes the front end may be flawed but I do alot of tight tree riding and recently started back at the hills. Just like you I didn't see huge improvements riding the other brands, although the newer Cats were pretty easy to carve with and keep on one ski, where my Nytro is tippy and twitchy.
Most of what I know about the Nytro is from experience and reading on the internet. Everyone I've let ride the Nytro is impressed by the fit and finish and the motor. They've all said the handling is twitchy. On the trail I've seen I can't keep up in general, they go just a little faster than me. Part of this is my lack of skill and part of this is that I feel like I'll be bucked off at any moment.
As far as comparable Cats, I'd be looking at mountain versions. Probably a Proclimb M 1100 Turbo. I just can't come to a decision. Do I want to pump a bunch of money into this Nytro and have a good reliable sled, that I know I've sweated over and made exactly like I've wanted it, or look into a new Cat.

Getting the Nytro set up is key like any sled. With that being said i can ride harder thru rough trails better and faster then any sled I have ridden over the years. I have rode some 2012 Polaris sleds but I cant push somebody elses sled as hard or as confident as your own!
I keep forgetting this is the mountain Nytro forum and different handling traits apply here. The proclimb turbo would be head and shoulders above the Nytro. The standard 1100 proclimb will have less power but the chassis will likely be more nimble off trail and handle way better on the trail to the mountains.
