After MANY years of 700 triples and A lot of time on the 2 stroke side I'm a proud owner of a NEW 2010 Nytro XTX. Just looking for some general info on possible issues with these sleds. Also some set up, clutching and performance ideas you guys may have..... sled is new therefore stock, except I did replace the Ripsaw with a 1.5 Camoplast Crossover track... Thanks

Here are some things that I have learned from this site so far regarding this sled that you should think of purchasing:
1. OFT Racing's Moto-R Kill w/ Jacobson Roll-over Valve - This will prevent engine oil loss during a roll over event of Yamaha 4 stroke snowmobiles. Happens more then you think, 4 strokes are not the same as 2-strokes with regards to having them on their sides and rolling them over.
2. Roest Racing Skid Plate - Take a look at your current skid plate, its made of plastic. Right behind that is your oil filter. Think that will stop a rock? Guess what happens when you hit one without this plate. Yup you guessed it, you lose all your oil. http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php?t=85858
3. Excel Nytro FX Wheel Kit - Fast Hyfax wear is another issue with this sled. This is one of the popular solutions to fix this problem permanently. Again lots of info on this site about this topic.
4. OFT Nytro Tunnel Block-off Kit - This will supposedly stop the ice buildup problem that a lot of Nytro's have on the tunnel. Again lots of info and other solutions to this problem on this site.
5. Trail Tank 37 Liters - Increase your tank to the same aprox size that you had on your 2 strokes. Now you can go even farther on a tank of gas.
6. Split Rail Ski - This supposedly is the latest solution to the handling problems some people comment about the Yamaha's.
Well that is my list of improvements I am going to be making to my sled after reading this site that I thought I would pass on as well. Hope it helps!

Nice list Silas
2 more things that bugged the heck out of me on the XTX.
Premature front limiter strap failure. (double up strap fix)
and
Front shock lower mount designed too low. (don't stud down the center line)
Cheers

There is one more little goodie that unfortunatly was never addressed in 2010 and it was the "hand warmers" Shoot your bars with some good foam.

And in case you haven't noticed, the nytro has ZERO storage.
The big windshield bag is actually quite large if you have a tall windshield. And the handlebar bag is pretty nice too for smaller items.
Otherwise a cheap thing to do is move your tail light to the very rear, and that frees up lots of room on the tunnel for a tunnel rack/bag, or a gas can.

the Yamaheater is a definate must and if your not looking to spend a ton of money on the handling, then some dually carbides and shimming the rubbers on your skis will do wonders
