Sorry sir! I was joking and trying to loosen you guys up some!.Be nice Jon. lol
I'm thinking the hyfax part doesn't apply to Sidewinders at all. Maybe '22 Snoscoots? Probably why it was cut from Jaret's and earlier screen shot.

Hyfax is SRX120R and SnoScoot. No concerns here for Sidewinder.
Would have to do some digging into part numbers, I believe they have new numbers but don't have those handy.
Thanks,

They hob or broach the splines. They also have a specialized machine to do this. They mass produce these parts and sell them by the thousands to justify the cost of the machine and setup.I am not a machinist so I dont know. How do they do it on the brake disc? Can't be too difficult.

Well they used plenty of anti seize on the shaft on the 22. Shaft appears the same. The bearing fit is laughable. Not tight at all on mine. I’ve seen better. My 17 was for sure.

So it looks like they changed the bushing material on the gear, added some surface material to the Upper Driveshaft i:e Jackshaft then hardened the Driveshaft.
Sorry, i'm not convinced here. Hope i'm wrong.
If the bearing is still loose, and shaft "harder", it's now gonna eat the bearing.
The skinny top gear with all that weight/ force on it is gonna eat through this "coating" like the shaft used to eat through the gear coating.
The DMC has a much wider surface to spread the "weight". That's the fix.
The bearing needs to be snug then locked somehow.
I hope this helps cuz in 2 years, i'll be buying a new sled.

The shaft and bearing don’t have a chance from the factory. It’s loaded with anti seize for sh$@s sake.

So instead of "locking" the bearing on, it's lubed on?
Am i missing something?

No your not. I had a shaft replaced by a Yamaha dealer on my 17 a d it was loaded with anti seize. I’m pretty sure it says it in the shop manual! Go figure right?

That’s why I checked it. And the cheap China peer bearing needed to go. It’s like nothing I ever seen. The factory is making things worse. Way worse

Well my bud who bought my 1st Winder had the Driveshaft welded & turned, but no gear fix.
My other bud didn't touch the shaft, but got the DMC gear installed.
I'm taking bets who will my 25,000 mile Apex be towing first.......................bearing or gear?

It's a China driveshaft too...

The BOP wedge would not fit in my replacement driveshaft. Had to make it just a tad smaller.
