So maybe it's time to add a pound or 2 to stiffen it up. I know they try to save weight, but C'mon.Jarret even says in his video of the two up sled that it gets more power thru the driveline with the stiffer tunnel on that model. Right from yamaha.
Look at the chaincase side, same setup except it runs in an oil bath and doesn't wear out the shaft.
Remember the original DOO XP's were super light & used to twist? They ended up adding weight & beefing them up.
Maybe next years new chassis will address this.
Yes, this is the general consensus. All the old school sleds locked the bearings to the shaft BUT the brake was not mounted on the lower shaft and the left side shaft bearing was not incorporated into the caliper
The would have to completely restructure the whole other side to eliminate this.
Which would be fine with me.
Separate oil tank.
Adjustable drive-chain.
Locked bearing.

Pulled 21 top today and installed DMC 22. 110 miles on 2022 sled. I set my chain tension with case open at 0 miles while having roller screws welded. The chain was not tight. I did not feel for wobble or measure anything as I was just pulling the gear and replacing.

110 miles? Yikes. I just pulled 2 upper gears on separate 2020 Tcats with 2200 and 3900 miles that looked better than that. Replaced them with the oil impregnated bronze bushings.

Did you check for any wobble before removing? The ones I removed had a bit of wobble in them. The new bushings where tight enough as to not fit over the shaft. I take a brake cylinder hone and hone them to fit with no binding but absolutely no wobble.

I did not, and I wish I would have. I just pulled it as I was putting DMC, limited time before I leave for UP for Christmas. Just feels and looks different then previous years, I guess is why I would say not to judge just yet.Did you check for any wobble before removing? The ones I removed had a bit of wobble in them. That’s awesome and good to know if my GT comes in……might not have to do anything to it when first get it…..don’t want to be doing any preventative wrenching if I might only have a week of riding time!Updated post. If you go back to page one I believe they are saying both shafts are new for 2022

Well unfortunately the drive shaft bearing will need some attention from factory.. My 22 had lots on anti seize on the shaft and bearing.. If a guy should do one thing and a must IMO is removing the bearing and cleaning up the shaft and inner race and installing BOP wedge from new would be a must.. IMO .That’s awesome and good to know if my GT comes in……might not have to do anything to it when first get it…..don’t want to be doing any preventative wrenching if I might only have a week of riding time!

Yamaha is saying the Driveshaft is harder.
The Jackshaft or Upper Shaft is coated with some Miracle Lube.
We'll see if these "band-aids" fix the issues.
I honestly believe in my Heart they did quickie fixes for this year because they have something new coming next year.
P.S: Miracle Lube on the shaft. I was talking about a coating on the Jackshaft where the top sprocket sits. NOT Astroglide you pervs!!!
P.S@: Now that i think of it, Astroglide might be a better idea then a "coating"

Measured my 22 drive axle it’s 1.770 . Axle surface is harder steel. Went put 4 dimples in it , just barely scratched it compared to my 21 .

Just pulled my 22 LE chain case apart and change oil , wasn’t to impressed with the 2022 “new” top gear condition . It has 580 miles on it . I will be going back my bronze bushing design I have been running for 4 years , from the pictures of other designs , wear patterns and oil cleanness it has looks to be definitely the best for wear . This has 3000 miles from last year. The others are the stock 22 LE 21T gear bushing.
