On this side of the pond we are looking at a price reduction.
5-10% (depending on model) compared to last year.
Still a bit steep compared to your prices, my 2011 MTX SE 162" is USD 17.250 at the current exchange rate...

Also it makes me a little upset if its a currency conversion thing, because ski doo (made in canada) should be cheaper in canada then in the US but I think its the opposite.
I dont get it...
Its called ripping us off plain and simple. There is no way the cost difference can be that high. When you ask Yamaha Canada why that is they wont even give you an answer. Like I have said many times before until we quit buying them from Canadian dealers and import new ones from the USA nothing will change. When the time does come prior to them changing their pricing policy to reflect reality they will ask the govt to stop Canadians from importing. They will use job losses as their tool to try convince the govt to stop us from importing. Its not like the snowmobiles are manufactured here anyhow all Yamaha Canada is an main office/warehouse with sub dealers across the country. Buy at one mass price and sell at insanely highly profitable rip off prices. Check out the parts prices from Canada and USA niether country makes the part they simply buy from Japan and sell it here. I would bet the parts come over on the same ship now you tell me how much more it would cost to come to Canada as opposed to the USA. Buy from the USA and save yourself thousands screw the warranty and use the money you saved to buy parts you need unless its major then take it back to your Americian dealer.

I have to admit, that's one thing I like about the small area I live in. A dealer within 20 miles of me, sells all 4 brands. The Yamahas sell so well, that when the '08 Nytro came out, I picked up a leftover new '06 Nytro, for $2k less than sticker. $2500 trade-in, on my '04 Venom was a little low, but they sold it quick; which actually made me feel better, not seeing it sit on the lot. Heck, I paid $12k for my brand new Neon, in '03; now over 205,000 miles. And $2500 for my '94 Dakota V-8, 2 years ago without needing any work, yet . I gotta agree, that the new prices are outrageous, but deals are out there, to be had.

the biggest problem I have with the cost increases is this economy is terrible. people don't have jobs and people aren't making anymore money. If the economy was great and I was getting 5 to 10 % raises every year it might not be so bad.
This is a great new sled and I'm sure many will love it. But 15K for a toy you can only use 3 to 4 months a year is a bitter pill to swallow!!!

What taxes justify a 2,500 to 3,500 thousand dollar difference? Even a Ski-Doo built in Canada and exported to the US has the same price difference. There used to be a manufacture sales tax MST but that was dropped and replaced with the GST. The MST was hidden in the price but the GST is paid after the sale.
Manufacture's (Ski Doo) pay little GST as they can get most of it back or are exempt even before they pay it. That was the reason for the GST so that the consumer pays the tax after the fact to reduce manufature pricing and shift it (the tax) to us the consumer.
I think its more of a what the market can bear! I think that Canadians have always paid more but with the dollar being as much as 40% lower in Canada it was covered up by that. Now that the dollar is closer to par the difference stands out like a sore thumb.
Canada is not going to lower thier prices to be more in line with the US because they have got used to the money in thier pocket. And contrary to popular belief Canada sells more sleds not the US. So volume is not the factor.
US gives a better warrenty on top off all that. Nope it just plain Canadian greed! Or I'm totally wrong!

Yep Yamaha parts are as much as 50% cheaper in the US. But maybe now they jacked the US sleds up in price that will change a bit. My guess is though it will still be cheaper to buy parts in the US by a large amount.

Some of it is because its cheaper for yamaha to ship parts from Japan into the USA then into Canada. I know when we sell machines to Canada we get hit with big shipping tax.

Just under $16000 Cdn. (before 12% tax) for a Nytro MTX. For that, the Nytro better be the best performing sled on the mountain. But it isn't. And yeah, I get it: the build quality's second to none, they're reliable, etc, etc.
I wish I lived in a world where I could justify spending an extra $3000 out of brand loyalty but I can't. Yamaha's priced themselves out of my market.

I think 1 answer would be to offer a base sled for $? & then charge for every upgrade from there! Handwarmers, skis, suspensions, guages, tracks, windshields, reverse & even colors!

That would be cool I just want the engine and plastics. I would even option for no rear suspension and track so I could get it the way I wanted and add my own.

Thats actually a really good idea. I cant think of any sled I've ever owned where I havent changed all those things from stock.
I'd ever like to buy one new without skis, shocks, skid, track, and so on and just be able to buy from the after market for what I want, lol!

Wait until Fall see what happens then. Could be FAT rebates on Apex sleds.
