Oil Change Access

There is still the clean up issue, an ounce of oil especially gear oil can migrate over a fairly large area and collect a lot of crap.
The time it takes to remove the skid plate is still probably less than the cleanup time later.

It doesn't mater to me if takes 8 or 10 or however many hours to do a service to my satisfaction.
I'm not paying $110.00 an hour to my dealer to do it so if I spend an extra .5 or .75 hr. to do my service (oh well).

Starting my skid plate install today. It looks like by the brake I need to remove a screw and drill out a rivet on my RR machine as the holes in the plate align with these fasteners.

Skid is awfully tight fitting over the OE plastic brake skid. Pics to be edited in as I progress.

I picked up one of the BOP beefed up oil access covers, and it is substantially thicker than the factory aluminum. If I just cut a hole out of the plastic rear skid plate so that I can access that cover (without re-using the plastic over the BOP plate) would that cause problems with ice/snow buildup under the skid plate? I realize the BOP plate would not give as much protection as the rear skid plate, but I would think that overall, it would provide quite a bit of protection, and avoid a lot of extra work when doing the oil change. Any thoughts?

Are we talking about the Yamaha brand plastic skid plates? Front and rear?

Thanks
