After a trouble free weekend of riding last weekend. I put my sled in the garage like always and a couple days later I've noticed a very small puddle of oil on the floor. It looks like the oil is dripping from under the chain case through the small hole in the belly pan. I'm not able to see where the oil is coming from. Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas where to start to look would be a help. Both the oil and chaincase oil levels are at the proper levels too.

Take it to the dealer ... it has warranty right?

Is it engine oil?

If it's a simple fix I would rather do it myself cause the dealer is an hour away, but yes it will more then likely end up at the dealer.MrSled said:buckeye rider said:After a trouble free weekend of riding last weekend. I think so. It feels more like engine oil then gear oil. I'm only able to see where it's dripping from and not where it's originating from. Very small leak. Only a few drops a day.cannondale27 said:Is it engine oil?

Is it coming out of the Airbox?? And have you had it on its side?? My Nytro would drip sometimes from the airbox drain.

That's not a leak that's a geyser:-(YamahaTim said:MrSled said:buckeye rider said:I think so. It feels more like engine oil then gear oil. I'm only able to see where it's dripping from and not where it's originating from. Very small leak. Only a few drops a day.cannondale27 said:Is it engine oil?

Also there are hose clamps near bottom of oil tank. You have to remove muffle. Tightened mine yesterday, they weren't leaking, but loose. Had tighten them once before.

Check this
Lol, I remember that. I went and make sure mine were good. That's not where it was leaking from, but it would suck leaking there while on a trip! Well mine sure did! No worries as i will have it back early this week! Can't wait. I have a lot of miles to make up!

Did you ever figure out what the issue was? I just bought a 2015 Viper that is doing the exact same thing. I only have 8 miles on it.

Buddy of mine had a new cat last year that after 20 miles lost the oil out of the chain case......xf800 so not engine oil.
After some discussion they gave him a new sled, took it from the dealer put it in his garage and the next morning a puddle of oil under the sled.....o miles.
Went back to the dealer and checked several sleds on the floor and they ALL had the ears on the chain case cover cracked. None at the dealer were leaking but I guess if they would have been used they would have.
This was my biggest concern when buying my viper.
They gave him yet another new xf800 and so far that one is fine.
