Does the dipstick tank fix this problem? Or can any of you guys confirm that putting more oil in the tank will solve it?
My brother has a 2015 viper with the hurricane 400 turbo kit, 141 track. Pretty much any time you pin it, it wheelies 2 feet and the oil light comes on. Oil is halfway up the sight glass. Sounds like the same thing that happens when you mountain guys are going vertical .

The sensor is on the motor correct? Maybe a different pan and pickup would be the only real solution. Should be doable by a good fabricator and ton of room under engine.

Its a dry sump motor, I dont think changing the pan will do anything for you. This is a design flaw with the tank. It needs more baffles to keep the oil pickup submerged. Planning on going to the dealer tomorrow and trying to get a warranty fix. Whats the fun in having a sled you cant wheelie right.

There is still the pickup in oil pan. Submerge it more and will fix issue. Look at engine diagrams. That may be so, but it's not what's cuasing the oil light problem when wheeling. My nytro has the same motor, I can keep the skis up for a mile if I want. Low oil pressure light won't come on. It's a design flaw with the oil tank on the vipers. They offered an update apparently, so Yamaha knows about the problem.

Do what you like but I would not mess with the sensors.

You are right. The engine in the Viper is more laid back, and the oil tank is "lower" when the sled is nose high. I believe the engineers missed the extreme nose high scenario just like they did on the original RX1 MTN. It also doesn't help when they weren't starting with a clean slate design wise.

Ya I guess this is what happens when you shoehorn an engine in a chassis its not designed for. Gonna go to the dealer today and see if they can do anything. Im sure the engineers knew exactly about this problem, and figured it would only affect a small percentage of riders.
My brother has a 2014 with mpi low boost turbo, never seen the light come on. But his 15 with the hurricane 400 turbo kit, you cant even give it full throttle. Pulls the skis up and I guess the g force from acceleration pulls the oil back and the light comes on.

Yamaha has got to get it together if they want to compete in the mountain sled game. You can't design a sled that can only be driven down hill. There has been many sleds that have come tumbling down the hills because of this problem. And I can tell you myself and others are getting quite fed up. This should be a update/recall and paid for by Yamaha. Like come on I didn't buy a 163 mountain sled to ride the groomed trail.
In my opinion the oil tank should be flat on the back side. How it is right now once the sled is vertical all the oil falls back away from the pickup in the tank.

Low oil pressure light comes on, on my 2014 Arctic Cat ZR 7000 SnoPro Ltd (same motor as Viper) but only to at speeds in excess of 70, though seems to come on earlier if I am at higher altitudes. Was hoping someone on here had similar issues. If I don't back off on the throttle when I see the light come on, the engine will act like it is shutting down (which the low oil pressure sensor is supposed to do). Was fine the last two seasons. Started shortly after my clutch was rebuild at around 8000+ miles (don't see how that could have effected it). Now at 12000+ still doing. 4 Cat dealers and 2 Yamaha dealers have been quizzed and all said they had not seen. 1st cat dealer plugged in the sled and found no error codes. Baffled in Massachusetts. Most of my riding is in Maine, New Brunswick and Quebec.

Could just be a bad sending unit. I have seen that. Thanks for the info... No, not had a dealer check pressure yet. Wanted to ride this season as long as I could, just had to watch the light and keep the speed below when it would come on. lol. Did talk to Freedom Cycle in Concord NH (Cat & Yamaha dealer) in mid March and they said they could do just that on the bench. Tried to make an appointment yesterday (3/31) and found that they are no longer servicing sleds this season. Told me to bring it in, in the fall. What the F.... Would like to find another combination dealer cause they would have more experience with this engine than a Cat dealer, but so far (have looked out 100 miles from my home in central MA) and not found another dealer that sells both. Do know of another in Jackman ME, but that is 6+ house from my home and would not give that dealer the time of day (though some of my friend have bought from him and think he is great). Dealer I bought from in CT is out of business (state of CT and Feds both came in and shut him down), Cat dealer here in Central MA lasted only two seasons with sleds (tough to be a snowmobile dealer here in MA).... Also, I had thought about just changing sensor to see if faulty, but Cat wanted over 400 dollars (and only one found in and it was in Montana I believe my private repair guy said).... He also found that Yamaha wants 200+ for what I would think would be the same damn part (though I did see somewhere on here that someone said that Cat added a 10 second delay to the sensor, so may not be the same part)..... Grrrrr. May just take it to a Cat dealer. Will give Livingston's in NH a call and see if they can look at. Bought one sled from them in the past and are a long time CAT dealer....Could just be a bad sending unit. I have seen that. Have the checked pressure with a mechanical guage?

Holy Cow that's expensive! I would not worry about using Cat or Yamaha dealer. They have been out for awhile now. Other thing you could do is borrow one from someone. Thanks for the info... Ya, my 2014 was the 1st year with that engine I believe (for Cat and the new Viper anyway).. Weather permitting, will bring up to Livingston's on Monday. Been mix snow, sleet and freezing rain here since yesterday, but only about an inch of sleet on the ground. Trees covered with ice and snow, hope we don't get any wind to snap the branches and bring down power lines. Livingston's (central NH) told me that they got about 16 inches of new heavyweight snow (not sopping wet) and still snowing with more possibly on Tuesday. With most of the lakes reopened (or at least unsafe) from central NE south, not may areas you can ride even with the new snow and northern VT, NH and Maine did not get the storm.... Was hoping to head north this week, but with a forecast of 40's even in northern Maine and New Brunswick, guess my season is over. Was hoping to put another 500 miles on to hit 5,000 for the season. This years 4,500 is my best to date.
