Hello All, I am thinking I can remove the oil pan and change the oil pump in the sled. Am I crazy? Thanks.

Just that it is tight. I looks doable but I might be missing something.

With the intermittent shutdown at high speed i suspect the sensor. Based on the code. But possibly a slipping gear as I have seen others describe. Being 8 hours from my snowmobiling destination makes me want to cover all bases. The pump was $210us.

By process of elimination that would be my last resort for sure if its even possible and even then I probably would pull the motor out to complete that task.. Do let us know if you attempt cause that will be a first I have heard someone doing that…

My buddy expirenced alot of the same symptoms you have described after a very cold start up one morning. Long story shot we verified 0 oil psi with manual gauge. It ended up being the oil pump drive socket randomly spinning on pump shaft (hence having occasional psi). The sprocket and pump shaft have a matching "D" shape that can round out usually the after a very cold start up. This scenario is pretty rare but I have seen it first hand. The pump can be changed with engine in chassis (with lower body panels removed) but is still a pain in the a$$.

Thanks so much.

Pain in the #*$&@ is not even close to this nightmare. You have to unbolt the pan. And unbolt the pump before you could even think of getting it out. Then take out the 2 front motor mount bolts along with taking the bolts out of the front motor mount frame to slide it forward. Then take a 2x4 and lift the motor to barely get it out. Next I have to scrape the old gasket and reassemble. I will report back when done.

Yep, sounds familiar....that's why I warned ya.
Did you notice if the drive sprocket was spinning on the pump shaft??

It was tight with no sign of spinning.

I helped with oil pump replacement, let's say it was a big learning experience. In the end the pump was not the issue or either sensor that was replaced. I wanted to bring this TTT so spaceman can update everyone on what the real problem ended up being.

Oh, he did get something really bada$$ out it this issue though.
