Oil Usage Poll-please read even if you don't burn oil

Well I'm getting some very good material to use when I talk to Yamaha. I want to try to be very nice about this with them...you know, catching more flies with honey and all that. If that doesn't work, I'll step it up a notch. Hopefully I can get Yamaha to get the dealer to work with me somehow. I'm off warranty, so I know I'll end up not getting it repaired completely, but I'm going to start by requesting a complete repair paid for by Yamaha. When they decline that, I'll try to meet them half way and ask for discounted repairs, or maybe I buy parts and they supply labor or something. I doubt that will work though...I don't know what the labor is to change rings, but I know it won't be cheap! It would be nice to go 50/50 with repairs, but even then, my half of dealer cost to replace rings will be so much that I would still save tons by just doing the whole job myself and paying for the rings. So I guess I really have no idea what will come of this, or how things could work in my favor, but we'll see once I talk to someone.

And 4fighter, don't sweat the post...I agree with you 100%. Thats exactly the point I was trying to make myself and still stick with...I don't care if I owned a sled with an engine that grenaded...if it was covered under warranty, I'd be happy. I'd rather have my engine replaced under warranty than to have to replace the W arm myself. Doo replacing all the cylinders sucks, but its nice to see they caught it early, took responsibility, and corrected the issue. If it was Yamaha, they would keep quiet, tell those with problems the first year that the sleds were abused and not cover the engines, then ignore any problems after the first year.
