Sorry guys, can’t find any info. Just bought a 86 bravo for my son and was wondering what type of injection oil is best. Can a machine this old run full synthetic? Any downside?

i would stay with dino oil as the mix would have to be adjusted for it. tried it on an 1988 yamaha oil injected outboard and the synthetic sled oil i put in was too thin and gummed things up with too much oil. put dino oil in it and it cleared itself out and ran great. topping it off occasionally with synthetic will not hurt it.

Do you know what the previous owner was using for oil? lots of good 2 stroke snowmobile oils out there at a good price, Canadian tire has a couple good brands that will work fine, synthetic is pricy, I agree with maim and stick with the dino oil.

My 85 Bravo that has been in the family for over 20 years, well actually all my sleds has always had Yamalube in them.

May I suggest that you go to our Sister Forums and Register, totallyamaha.net and post.

TO answer your ? NO do not use synthetic motor oil. I may be missing something but you must use two stroke oil for injection NOT motor oil. Hope that helps.

You can get 2 stroke injection oil that is full synthetic. I believe previous owner was running this. Just wondering if it’s overkill or worth the extra cash. Thanks again for the replies!

I bought my 1986 Bravo new in 1986 and have only put Yamalube 2S oil in from Day 1. I know I've only had it for 34 years, and who knows how many thousands of hard miles later, but I've never had a problem. That single cylinder still runs like the day I got it.

The 250 Enticer was very good as well, those engines are bullet proof, any quality 2 stroke oil that meets Yamahas oil standards.

Nothing but Yamalube 2S in the 89 Sno Scoot and still runs like a top. ;)!
