Ontario TY Ride 2014

Hey guys,

The comfort in in Huntsville seems like the best bet. Saturday Feb. 1st and Sunday the 2nd.

86 King William St., Huntsville, ON, Canada, P1H 1E4
Phone: (705) 789-1701

Be sure to ask for the snowmobile rate.

I will be waiting a bit before booking to see what conditions are like. There is a lot of yellow/red in the area so we will see how it develops. If need be we can move the ride to North Bay or somewhere with good conditions.

Thank for the help YammyRX1 with the hotels.

Did some more research:

-Comfort Inn snowmobiler rate is $65 / night (no extra charges for ground floor or 2 beds, etc.)
-rate includes continental breakfast- downstairs rooms have patio door access and fridge / microwave
-reservations can be cancelled without penalty up until 4pm day of reservation (no risk for weather)
-although lakes are showing red in that area the locals tell me that they were recently staked and should be going green any time
-parking should not be an issue unless they fill the place
-hotel says that the lake trail is only 2-3 minutes from parking lot
-there is a Crabby Joe's about 5 minutes from there

Who's in?

I live 20 minutes from the comfort inn... Trails are fantastic and well groomed right now base is solid and deep....fairy lake is staked as of today.... We can catch up for a ride..... Anything towards algonquin is amazing as is north of Huntsville and east towards Dorset .... Stay clear of deerhust only because it gets busy... Ice caves are also cool and are towards burks fall/ magentawan.... We have trail 102 going through our back yard down in baysville so I can keep you posted on actual conditions.... Which are amazing.... Lakes are opening up daily
Today it was -40 at 7 am we have 4 feet of snow everywhere....even with the rain two weeks ago.... Best season in years!

Thanks for the info! would be great to have more join in.

Roll over valve shut the sled off and the breather to the oil tank when the tether is pulled. That way I don't end up with oil all over my airbox and it stays in the tank.

A lot of the trails turned back to green and everything I read online says that the trails are in GREAT shape!

we have the best snow this year in all of Ontario……seriously amazing. Green doesn't begin to tell the story of how good it really is this year.
I have friends in North bay come down to ride and they stop and stare at the mounds of snow……..wow is all they say.

I can set you guys up with anything you need in town……I work for les Stroud aka-Survivorman and can provide you with great destinations and contacts for food or lodging…..we have rode a great deal of the trails around hear and know the terrain and trails very well…they are exceptional!!!!
we use the comfort inn for out of town visitors and your rate is excellent ….right across from both canadian tire and the LCBO……can't beat that.
Plus the lake is 2 minutes from your door step as is independent and metro groceries…..Im sure most of your group has been up hear at least once so I'm certain
you know how good it is.

let me know if you need anything…..my wife and I can meet you guys on the trails.

Barry

I'm booked, 2 double beds on ground floor for $65- can't beat that.

So what is the agenda? What time is the ride at? We checking in on Friday or Saturday?

In the past we have hit the trails between 9-10AM meeting up before for breakfast.

I am only about an hour and a bit away so I will probably only drive down on Saturday morning.

Once we all all together we can decide on a loop that best suits everyone as a group.

I want to get there but will be driving from Ottawa on Friday afternoon. And my older son is working till 9PM and it's at least a 4 hour drive. I'll drive down in the afternoon with the 4 sleds and he would just drive there after work. So far it looks like just flurries on Friday so it shouldn't be too bad.

what time and what day are we talking? we can meet you gents anywhere in the area….
Never rode in a Yamaha group before…..mostly ski-doo in my neck of the woods which is great as long as you don't follow.

Trails are crazy great….no one was up this past weekend due to cold so its like riding on a pool table with hills and valleys.
outstanding!
