Just got my dream '16 Viper Ltx LE w/600 mi. and warranty. It came pretty decked out with extras too! One being hand guards, OEM style. These seem to make the flimsy parking brake mechanism impossible to use. Anyone else have this issue, am I missing something?
Looking forward to use next winter, just getting all ready! Thanks for help!!!

Yes they are impossible to get to with guards on them but I never use mine. Don't park on a hill and when trailering not a good idea to leave on for extended periods anyhow the master cylinder leaks down and it does nothing just tie down with straps

I ended up positioning park brake lever on the outside of the hand guard on mine. It holds it out a ways, but not far enough to the point where it would engage it when you don't want it to.

Pretty lousy set up as it is, as stated before... Already seeing some quality issues on the Yamicat I would have never seen on my other Yamahas!

I can't say I agree with you Viper S, I hated the cable operated brake on my old Nytro. It was a PITA!

My parking brake can't even be engaged with the hand guards, so might as well not have one. The plastic handle doesn't impress either... Still think there's a solution out there!I can't say I agree with you Viper S, I hated the cable operated brake on my old Nytro. It was a PITA!

We've got 5 winder/ viper in or group...3 of them don't stay latched.
Not being able to trailer with the parking brake on is total bs.

I agree, things like this cheapen the product. This is an ez fix Yamaha should have addressed...Already wondering what other cheapsh_ _ I'll find. Already noticed some finish stuff not too pleased with...

Once you ride it next season, you'll probably like it a lot more. The chassis just plain works!

These are the Cat ones with the extra rubber extension that goes around the edge of the guard. Yours may be different then these.

My dealer mechanic said to never leave parking break engaged as stated before trailering or not. I don't think I've ever used mine! LOL!

Why have it then, only use it when parked on incline or when trailering...My dealer mechanic said to never leave parking break engaged as stated before trailering or not. I don't think I've ever used mine! LOL!

I don't know why they even have them on sleds ... if you are relying on that to hold your sled on the trailer then maybe you better rethink how it's getting tied down ... and for me anyways I never park in a hill , its either in top of it or the bottom
