I have a friend that is looking to purchase two 2007 Phazer GT's. These have all the updates done except the fan on the radiator.
Since they are out of warranty, the dealer shot the price of that fan kit. I was amazed it was over $200!! I did find some places online that had the kit for $166

Anyone have some leads on a fan that would work? I am assuming if a person has the right muffin fan and wiring, the sleds control will turn it on and off when needed? Is the fan blowing or pulling air through the rad?
As always, your help is greatly appreciated.

I'm in kinda the same boat. Bought 2 '07s at the end of the season last year. One of them doesn't have the fan.
Last spring I found a posting on some forum (HCS?) where someone claimed that they were able to get the fan from a R6 sport bike and the connector was the same and just needed some fab work on the mount. They are all over eBay for $30, so it's probably worth a try.
I found one of the postings again and have an email in to the guy, but haven't heard back from him to find out what years, but the posting was back in '07, so it would have had to be pre-'08.

Thanks Kenton! I will go check out Hardcoresledder too. Maybe a quick post over there will find the right person.
I will post back here if I find anything.

Correct they fan pulls out air thoug if you fell air coming from the front and your not moving dont be alarmed. If you fell it, its is just back pressuse begin genarated.

The liquid cooled Phazer motor has the heat removed from the coolant via two ways:
1) air movement thru the radiator
2) snow and ice contact on the head exchanger located in the forward tunnel area
IMHO the optional fan kit for the radiator is not needed UNLESS you ride in very low snow conditions and/or ride on icy trails or lake/river run on bare ice. Very slow trail riding can also be a reason to install the fan kit.
For MOST trail riding conditions, NOT needed. Does add weight and just my luck, I would hit something and drive the fan into the radiator and lose all of the coolant = riding day over!!!!!
I did install the radiator screen for extra protection. Highly recommended.

You would have a hard time getting the fan through the radiator because it sits behind it. If you hit something, you'd ruin the rad first.

The fan i behind the rad.
I think the fan it worth it. I can't see it weighing more than 2 lbs. IMO it is worth the weight for not having to stop and wait for it to cool down. Its not like you can pop open the hood and let it cool off a few mins.

i bought a fan from an r6 or r1, i forget. i know that doesn't help. but the connector plugs right in.
i just had to bend the brakets on the fan a little to line up with the stock holes on the rad.
worth the investment for sure. weight wise, it's no more than 1lb. big deal for no more overheat problems.
picked 2 fans up for $25 last year.

ok just looked it up, it was an r6 for sure. all the receipt said was r6 yzf 600 fan motors.
as far as year maybe 2004 or newer, i can't really give you exact year. not sure if it would matter.

I bought a r6 fan. It's big. It barely fits in there and there was no way to bend the brackets to get three points of contact to the radiator. Two if your lucky then you have to fab something up. Very tight space and hard to keep it from rubbing on the radiator.

To Jeffz and Yamahas, Never said (wrote) that the fan is mounted on the front side of the radiator. I did write that I had installed the optional factory radiator grille protector. Therefore, having installed that option, I do know where the optional fan unit is mounted. You did read my entire post. Didn't you? ![Homework :home: :home:](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/homework.gif)

I know it dosent say that its in front, but you did say that you could hit something and it would drive the fan indo the radiator. that might lead someone to beleive the fan goes infront. lol i acctualy read it twice.
I also have the protector, wouldn't ride withought it.
