I have a 2007 Phazer that doesn't run. When you turn the key, the gauge lights up, when you actually turn the key to start, the high beam light (blue indicator on the instrument pod) lights up........

No sound of fuel pump, no starter turning. If you hold the key in the start position, it flashes a code 43.

Where should I start?

My Vector turned over but would not start. Code 43 showing yellow warning light and engine light. Checked the fuses under the air box but were good. Turns out it was the fuel pump relay by my left foot. Unplugged it and warmed it up. Plugged it back in and the sled started.

OK, no luck yet. Battery says 12.3 volts on the meter.

When I turn the key, gauge lights up, BUT I do not hear anything from the the fuel pump........

Looking for anything?

I have a 2nd one of these sleds, so tonight I swapped out the starter relay and the ecu..... just to check, still same issue.

Which one is the fuel pump relay? Will the sled not turn over if the fuel pump doesn't run?

sorry, i missed the part that the sled won't turn over.

the starter is not dependant on the fuel pump

let me see if i can dig up some info for you in the manual in the morning.

Take a look at this, hopefully it helps you out. Do you have a service manual?

I would think that even if the fuel pump relay was blown, it would still crank over?

I hear the fuel pump, but it seems to be pretty soft sounding. However, I don't really remember how loud it was before......

Perhaps not. If the ECU sees an open circuit on the fuel pump relay coil circuit it may not supply the +12 v on the red/white wire that feeds most all of the relay coils including the starter relay.

Do you have a volt meter? You said that you swapped out the starter relay but did you check to see if you had 12 vdc on the starter relay coil circuit when the key is in the cranking position? If so, do you have 12 vdc on the thick wire from the starter relay to the starter when the key is turned to the cranking position. Since I doubt that you have two bad starter relays you are either not getting the 12 vdc to the relay coil circuit or you have a bad starter.

I have 12 volts to the starter relay. When I turn the key, I do not get 12 volts to the other side of the relay. Could my ignition switch have taken a crap?

I am going to jump the starter relay tonight to make sure the starter is OK.

Normally I would say that you have a bad starter relay but you said earlier that you had swapped it out and that did not fix the problem.

Well.... There is a diode that is in there somewhere that has a (I THINK) Blue/While wire....... When I turn the key on it has over 12 volts..... when I do to crank the engine...... It drops to 9 ish.......

Could this be it? That is in loop somehow......
