Pilot 6.9 ski's installed

So I wander in to BRP and ask the parts guy about purchasing a new set of 6.9 pilots and hand over dans list. Guy looks it over and asks what sled is it for. A few chuckles when I said a "Sidewinder" lol. Anyhow they steered me towards the new 850 5.7 pilots. For $435 CDN tax in I can get a set complete with the carbides Dan recommends. Pretty good deal if you ask me.

Im pretty sure Don put slimjims on his C&a setup to tame them a tad, id love to see how that feels...But ive been running pilots on every sled ive owned since 06, apex and cat and doos, and am good at dialing them in....lol

Not sure if you read, but my bud here has a new LE Ive been riding and tweaking abit for him. Still not studded so hoping they get to it soon. I would have studded it for Tom myself but I was studding my 4tec yesterday and then radar running here. I wished his was studded and here with me radaring to see what a STOCKER can do, especially compared to my 4tec now as Id love a direct comparison.

I think after the short ride I had on other buds 850 Sunday, it sure feels like my 4tec as setup now will put a hurtin on the 850,but will have to wait and see....even if its close then I will have made the 1200 come a long way from 103gps last season. Nice sled for sure, but i now have turbo fever back again, and worse then 2012! lol

Im still hoping to hook up with Taylor if winter kicks in better with some GREEN trail conditions, and ride over to LSP and hang out with him on his track, and likely stay overnight as Huntsville is a good days ride or so to LSP. Would be cool if buddy with SW here came with me, and who knows maybe Ill have a new SW by then? lol

You are correct Dan.

the Slim Jims on my C&A ski's had great handling but still way to much steering effort on hardpack even with little ski pressure. Just installed a set of 6.9's as well.

I'm a big fan of the 6.9's Don. That was the first thing I did to my sled and it was very easy especially since I had the 6.9's already.

I like the B/W look of those, very cool.....I saw Joe got red handles for his LE, and looked nice too.

I got lucky on the red loops Dan. I had them on a set of 5.7 Pilots from a different sled and they matched perfectly. I'm thinking I have too many skis and crap in the garage because it seems like I don't have to be buying too much I just use what I have laying around.

I'm a big fan also Joe. I ran 6.9's on a couple of my apex's before power steering. Had them on my 2013 renegade 1200 X as well.
Though I would give the C&A's a shot but the slightly better handling does not offset the really hard steering. Especially on those 400+ mile days.

Sounds like we have twins now. My 6.9's have red handles as well.

I'll get ya a pic tomorrow Dan. Yeh they look much better than the all red C&A's I had on it.
Just debating on running 5''. 1/2 round bars on the outside or just the small stock 4'' square bars.

We forgot to buy the square cheapos for outers, so i slapped on an old worn set of my 5" extreme brp 1/2" bars, I prefer the smaller 7/16 square outers, since they dont do much but just protect. Cheaper too.

The 6.9 really fits the look of the SW, brute look.

thet are close part #505071032 ,white will work also

For those interested, you can use Yamaha loops on your pilots....just need to take a little off the mounting surface using a grinder
