Present Sled: 2011 Yamaha Apex 128
Checking under the hood of my 2011 Apex and I noticed a piece of Gray Plastic down in the bottom just sitting there. Upon further investigation I found the Gray 4 pin connector of the Power Steering Control Unit was destroyed with the harness end having just the pins hanging? I have no idea how that happened? I bought the sled new in February 2013 as a NEW leftover. I could solder in a new connector if I could locate one, not sure if I want to go through the dealer for this? Any feedback?

Update: Put in new connector and it does not work! "EPS" warning indicator comes on and no Power Steering! I check new connector for continuity and all is good, and I check the 40 Amp "EPS" fuse and its good? They have to be kidding me where they located this fuse, along with the "Main", and "Fuel injection" fuses!!! You have to remove all side and top covers, headlight assembly, and air box! So now I'm thinking I'll have to bring it to the dealer. So I tighten the track and put the drive belt back on and start it up and guess what? The Power Steering is working? It looks like the track has to spin before the power steering will work? I guess? :o|

Wow thats good to know. You have just saved someone alot of frustration I am sure. I wonder if it goes into that warning mode everytime the battery is disconnected till you spin the track? Or maybe it just when it doesnt "see" the speedsensor for awhile?

I'm going to talk to the dealer about this to get more information on this topic and I will post!

OK I found out this much, The Power Steering is "Speed sensitive" So it must be connected to the Prox on the Driveshaft, and it is also "Load sensitive" so if the ski's are stuck on something the power steering is disabled to prevent damage to the motor. There might be more to it than this, I'll see what I can find out!
