Have 03 RX1 K&Ns, silver springs, stock weights, silver wrapped to 80',stock helix. Made the mistake (I think) of running my light 57.5 gram Dalton flyweigths when I first installed Fred's kit. I also messed with stiffer primary springs thinking this would get my Revs ups (It was hitting the wall @ 10,000) probably making the primary slippage much worse and potentially glazing both of my belts. Both belts are measuring 33.5 mm which I believe is 1mm from new. Put an shim in the secondary to bring the belt height up but did not seem to make any diifference. Belt is approximately 1/4 inch below the previous full shift out height which was about 1/4 inch to the top of the primary sheave. Could this just be smoked belts because of screwing around or.............? I got my best top speeds @10,500 now hitting wall at 10,000. Losing almost 10 mph on top. Any thoughts?

Yea jay,try going back to stock weights, and if you need more rpms, just drill out some on rivet in tip,and give that a try, change nothing else, one thing at a time. Now which primary spring did you install?

Beast I went back essentially to bone stock to get a baseline and to see if the stock setup would get me fully shifted which it did not. The only difference from stock is my silver secondary @80'. I am kind of thinking it is the belts. Will sandpaper revive a glazed belt?

Jaymore, take primary spring out,and close sheeves togeather and install belt around clutch and see how far it could shift out if you had it set just right, you may be surprised to see it only goes up about 3/8 of an inch from full shift,no matter what you do,and rx1extreem is right, use soap and water, and some scotch bright, and you can clean sheeves w/scotch/or steel wool, than acitone to clean them,it helps for a short while, anyway.

You'll get better shift out with an aftermarket helix, like a Dalton.
Stock weights are probably fine, as long as your rpms are good. Are you going for top speed at the loss of the quality of the trail ride?

I'm just trying to get it where it was John. I marked my primary and noticed I was not getting the shift out I had before and also noticed this on top end speed.

Were the K&Ns on or off when you were getting proper rpms? What was the temp outside? If to warm sometimes you won't pull your rpms. Did you change helix, are you sure your set at 80%? What was the load of the spring in the motor clutch you put in? Just a few things I can think of to help find the problem. (Later)

Not shifting out
Before I did anything else, I would get a new belt and see what that does. Then set belt deflection. If I understand your post, you were running 10,500 with the stock weights? That would be better than most are doing.

The conditions would have to be identical to get the same results. find a hard packed road and go for it. Good luck!
