I picked up a new 2020 ltx got this past summer. Came with a full tank of gas when picked up. When out for first ride of the season when I accelerate hard the motor would cut out like hitting the kill switch quickly. It did this two times in the first 20 miles. No codes showed on dash.
I take the sled into heated shop and check all boost lines and clamps for a second time and find everything tight. Take sled out for a test run in the field and sure enough cuts out momentarily on first pass.
Fill the sled with fresh 91 and test again and everything is fine but notice only 8450 top rpm. Is there any sort of limiter for breakin on these sleds? I also noticed on the diagnostic menu that the throttle only opens to 79.8 percent full throttle with 2mm free play. I tried adjusting cable but could not get any better than this.
Sled is all stock except turbosmart bov added.
I have not had a chance to try out sled again due to lack of snow. I don’t know if I have a boost leak because not throwing codes or just bad gas due to sitting to long (6 months).
Any thoughts appreciated, I would take to dealer but my 2 closest dealers shut down this year. Would like to try a few things myself before I go that route. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

The 79.8 you see is throttle angle not percentage of open. Throttle is opening fine. If you get throttle cable adjusted too tight it will set off the TORS system.
Engine is pretty tight new.

owners manual page 4, avoid prolong operation.....

There is no limiter for break-in no.

If it were me, I'd remove the turbo smart BOV and put the stock one back on. It's possible with the turbosmart on there you are momentarily hitting the boost cut, which will act like you are describing.

Break it in hard and the RPM's will come up but it's going to take some time for them to rise.

Thanks for the head up. I was concerned with the number after watching Cannondale’s video explaining how the gage functions work. He showed in the video how his percentage was zero when throttle closed and 99 when throttle wide open.
I have had 2 apex and a vector and I am aware that it can take about 600 miles before the motor starts to loosen up.
I have had the tors activated on the apex and it will throw a code 84 when that happens, I am confused because no codes were present when sidewinder cut out.
Thanks for the reply.

I always break in my new sleds hard, which has worked well for me. Thanks for the reply.

Mr Knapp,
I will try swapping out to stock and see if that solves the problem. Need more snow to test.
Thanks for the reply.

I agree with Knapp put your stock BOV back on. If your stock with no tune why would you change that out anyways.

I will put the stock BOV back on and test. I changed it out after visiting Precision Efi this past summer. They gave me shop tour and a bunch of free swag. After that I bought a few goodies from them before I left, one which was the BOV, as they told me that was one of the weak points, especially when putting a tune, which I intend to do after breakin.
They are nice guys over at Precision and being only 45 minutes from me, I would like to support local when buying a tune.

,y 19 cuts out like that if i hold the throttle wrong way. kinda weird but it cuts out if i holf it bit longer tors cuts in.shows code. its adjusted right but if i dont use thumb on exactly end at times it will do it to me. acts like just shut off but will idle

Would you mind telling them to answer me when I ask questions, LOL. Must be they try to ignore Americans?

Things are out of control regarding Covid in Quebec, resulting in a shutdown with a curfew from 8pm to 5am. Still no reason to not answer the phone, best of luck.

Yes yes but our brothers to the north have given us TD, Hurricane, Dalton, TAPP, and a host of other great sled-oriented businesses and products. I’d rather shop these great businesses and support our like-minded friends than make the Amazon a$$hole more money!

Update.
Changed out turbosmart to stock BOV and did a little bit of testing.
Ran well with no cutout as described before and actually picked up 200 rpm on top.
Thanks to everyone who had suggestions, what a great community here in Ty.
Thanks again, Jeff
