Question for those with HID's

I experimented with shimming but found that moving the bulbs back helps with the high/low beam differential but it also narrows the beam so you don't get sufficient trail side coverage. Removing the anti glare nose cone and enlarging the high beam window in the bottom portion of the shield seems to work the best.

I ziptied mine to the sides of the rad shrouds, they moved around a bit too much for my liking so i drilled a small hole in the plastic and added an extra set of zipties and now they arent going anywhere.
 
Does anybody have any brands or part numbers they would like to share or where to purchase? Grizztracks I like your install.

I'm sure there is but the sled start ones are so easy I put them in with my 2 boys riding their big wheels around me in the barn.
 
Before I ordered the sled start ones I looked at some that a friend of mine sells at his shop. I forget the brand but they were around $89 and I will tell you that the bulbs were very cheap and shook around in the housings. So I thought if an oem and put the sled start ones through their testing and think that they are good enough to sell at their dealers than it is more than likely a good product.
 
I agree I am sure that the sled start ones are durable and a great choice but those looking for a more cost effective alterantive definitely consider DDM. My cousin has them on his viper and haven't had any problems and put out great light, he even has his headlight lenses tinted to add to the look of his sled and they still are bright. Our friend also has them in this bike and ac crossfire with great results. I have been considering them for my nytro this year.

What about replacement bulbs if one burns out. I got the sledstart kit last year. Just dug the sled out of storage and noticed one bulb is out, haven't had time to determine problem yet.

I would just give him a call. I have never had bad customer service from anyone off this site and I spoke to him twice just yesterday about a few questions and the call lasted an hour just talking. Depending on how old your kit is if I were you I would just buy 2 bulbs and keep the working one for a spare just in case.
 
highest quality plug and play kit, SLEDSTART. If you dont mind a little wiring, and want a cheaper option, DDM's. Little hesitant about the DDMs in dads apex tho, i feel like the bulb will rattle apart after a while, but man are they bright! SLEDSTART has much better quality and cust service.

Sometimes the ballast won't light a particular bulb, especially when the battery may be lower than normal or the sled is cold. My Fathers Vector almost always lights with one bulb out when it's cold.
After it warms up a little and you re-start, it fires up both. I would try a re-start after it's warm to see if that's it, or you could try swapping the ballast/bulbs to see if it's the lamp.
