I have a 06 Attak with a Simons Turbo(2854R). Problem is I can't get the boost below 14-15 psi. I have a 7 psi. wastgate actuator on it. Hose from compressor to actuator appears to be free of leaks and tight. What could be wrong, or how can I lower it? I want to be running 8 psi. Thanks, Mike

I have a hi/lo boost controller, but it is disconnected until I can the boost level down first. Until I get the boost down the controller will do me no good, right?????? Controller only regulates pressure for more boost I think?????? Thanks,Mike

I turned it open 7 full turns(lengthened) so far with no luck, I'll try a few more tomorrow. Won't this give me more lag with the gate open?? Thanks, Mike

keep lengthing the rod till you get your baseline. as far as lag i'm not aware that will affect that. To be running that much boost with that turbo, that rod has to be very short. Thats the max the turbo will be effiecent at. Think about it, with a short rod your keeping the waste gate closed longer and by lengthing it your making it open up sooner, meaning less boost

I found the same with mine.. you have to really turn that rod out, like over an 1".. I had set it with a compressor and air guage to 6lbs then went out and tried it with the controller off. still a little high. but then I blew the skid and track out so I have not had a chance yet to test :die

make sure it is not hitting your fuel tank, you can lengthen it all you want but mine was hitting the tank,(not letting it open all the way)i am going to try to move the fuel tank back about a 1/2"

you have to watch the wastegate arm hitting the tank as it will melt the tank. Get that tank as far back as possible. you should almost be able to put your hand in between the tank and the shield. If you have too, grind some material off of the washers that hold the tank down.

how can you test the wastegate for settings, On the hose to the actuator? trying to get set for 10 lbs? w/o the boost controller

Never done it that way, but it would be simple.air pressure guage, air nozzle, some hose, maybe you can just use a pressure regulator. Adjust it to 10 psi and see if the wastegate fully opens. Make your rod adjustments to make it fully open at 10 psi. Just an idea. As far as checking settings, just put your airline with pressure regulator on it and turn it up until it's fully open and see what psi it takes to fully open it.

Tank

I agree mine was hitting the fuel tank as well, we pulled the tank off and slotted the holes and now it has clearance and all is well. It was a simons kit as well.

Thanks

ok, I made sure it was not hitting tank, and opened the wastgate till it went no farther(10 turns), it is all the way open. Took it out, still runs 14 psi. I have 2 boost gauges(1 digital, 1 vacuum needle) Both read the same. Any other ideas on how I can reduce boost?? Thanks

I know this sounds too simple, but did you disconnect the activation arm and move the waste gate by hand. Could it be stuck?
