My son and I tried ours today for the first time. It was around 5 to 9 deg. F. We both have heated shields. Not impressed at all. Cold and the shield frosted on both. Cold air leaked in on our foreheads and chins. The nose guard became wet with our breath and was uncomfortable on our noses. I do not recomend.

Try putting the shield DOWN.... LaLaLa

Just kidding......BUT. ......the Ski-Doo ones are based on the EXO 400 NOT the 700 so I wonder if the 700's were never really tested in the cold like the 400's? I'll be trying mine this weekend in -25C temps so I'll let you guys know how they work. I have an EXO400 with an elec. shield.

Maybe I should try plugging it in? Na... We took the chin guard and nose piece out and both stayed frosted. Maybe both are defected. I was in Coleman State park also.

bomby uses scop

I hope it is better than my modular bomby hemet. I am on my 4 th visor one reg. and 3 electric and none of the electric work worth a hoot. will never buy another again..fog fog fog .

here is my brp version exo400. i love it, had great luck with it. i bought it b/c my glasses fogged up w/my kbc helmet once i got my attak and they never fogged when i was riding my viper. i think it has alot to do with what sled you're on and what windshield. i think it is depending on where the wind is hitting the helmet.

yes i agree with the sled issue, but they seem to have juice but do not defog at all. I had a srx the cobra mid wshield. and now have 05 rx1 w/ med or higher. if i had a big shield would not even need a vizor.. nice looking hemet you have. I looked at them in the fall but will not buy this year, too little ridin and i have a hjc cl14 as back up

To make a choice of helmet is still very difficult even if money means nothing, and $350 is getting there. Like the X-Team Modular, and BV2's at close to $500. Sure hope the chin flips.

I don't see the EXO BRP version on the SkiDoo site.
One person claims"
the BV2S being really cold at higher speeds. And is now looking at Scorp.
So a helmet at half the price is better than than the top of the line BV2S? I somewhat dought that, but I'm all for the poly helmets vs the heavier fiberglass.

I do prefer the design of my HJC fulface flip for warm cruiser riding with the flip up chin, and shield. Modified before riding a sled, it should be doable if breathing mask, and heated shield was used. Some testing will happen for sure. The shield may have to be modified a tighter air fit.

The flip HJC was under $200 if I recall.
I'll never go back to solid chin design fulface.
Not for club riding anyway. Too old fashion.

Trying to talk into solid chin design is going to make it messy regardless, with excess steam and hard to be heard by others. The trouble with removing it just to talk, and now it's cold. Nonsense.

Modular helmets are not as safe a a standard solid chin helmet period. I would never take a chance on saftey.

solid chin is better for big time accident for shure. as for my mod ular bomby in canada the electic shields are $ 220 . each plus tax. and the helmet was about $ 400.

Put my EXO 400 thought the paces this week. Rode in Adirondacks Friday night in a snow storm, worked great. Have the electric shield and no fog, no ice build up from snow. The rest of the riding was getting blasted with snow dust from the sled in front of me, electric shield worked great. Then went to Canada and rode Monday, yea some ice on the bottom of the breath box, and cold air in helmet was minimal. We were riding in 2 degree temps and I have a low windshield.
Did not really notice much air in helmet till I got above 60 MPH. Much better than the CL-14. 14 would have froze my cheeks and under my chin off. Also used the amber sun visor. Really great for riding into the sun. You can see the moguls before you hit them..... ;)!

A friend crashed his motorcycle and was wearing a KBC Modular and it worked well, stayed closed-only thing was the shield cam off!

I personally am not a fan of the modular flip front lids.

good or bad

hey everyone i wanna know everything good or bad about the scorpion helmets please email me at tmpy11@yahoo.com hope to hear from you all..

feedback

I looked at these again at Eagel River this past weekend. Seemed like a nice package with plenty of cool features. I was seriously thinking about buying one. I'm so fed up with my snowforce. froze my chin this past weekend and without my heated visor working it ruined a day of riding. So I spent $100 on a new visor just to get home. It's funny how a guy can spend $12000 on a sled and then be beat by a 440 cause you can't see. So I'm looking for what ever is working best out there. it's a ton of money to snowmobile, trailer them and then rent cabins, just to be beat by a helmet!!! I thought I was ready for snow in July!!!!! Anyways, some more feedback on this would be great.

As long as it's SNELL approved, it's still a safety issue? Chin Flip. Not impossible. But has to be very rare.
Hope there are reports of it being such. Speculation is a gamble of the unknown.

Chin Flip, coolest feature since sliced bread.
103 degrees in rush hour traffic, and flipped it's an air scoop.

I never thought of screwing it down on a stump and repeatedly slamming it with a sledge hammer. Great Idea.

Don't most cops wear open face? vs fulface. I just came from Holland after several months and can't recall.

If I find the story, and topic of the day at local dealer.
Someone with a fulface fiberglass crashed on the road.
Person was operating it safe mode, or mach II? Unknown.

On impact, the chin fractured off one side and now sharp as a scalpel swung inward like a leaf spring and severed his juggler. You gotta hate that. Check for cracks.

Rarely do people die in common sense mode. This is the governing factor in most deaths.
Guys go down all the time track racing over a hundred. They walk away. As I have, maybe a little sore. Granted no oncoming traffic or telephone poles.

Barb wire across the trail used to be the beheading news.
But some will go wide open in unknown trails.
And where we won't tread on thin ice, others drive on it.

Several deaths already of doing just this. An entire family of 5 went in. Why is this? Steamed up shield?
Some just make these decisions. Common sense isn't a universal level across the board.

You watch your customers return year after year with no issues, and witness as the wrecker shows up with the one who won't. Sad, a new guy, All warnings were given the day before he left.

Back when helmets were just starting to appear in the 70's and common sense came first. I was one of the few who wore a fulface. But I had more reasons than just safety. I rode everyday rain or shine.
All local dealers in our group rode together once a week. Testing the latest HP tweak.

Some moved on into the circuit with Budwieser. Testing was too fast for my blood. On scooters when it hits 140 faster than you hit 30, and the 10" slick is trying to peel me off, I kill it. But that was the caliber of the group. All pro or nothing.
30 years later, still proof it works. No one lost to stupid.

It's great now, sleds having the best equipment there is across the board with high powered lights vs the candle we used to have where ten feet of light is all you got.
Maybe that was the controlling factor then, how nuts you got.

I just came in from warming up the RX1. Love that sound.

I found 4 plugs in the vent holes, underneath the liner. I told the wife that we might be in for trouble. So she got out the manual and started reading. Next thing I hear. "The helmet comes with vent plugs inside the helmet, to block vent holes. They can be left in place to reuce air flow or removed." I guesss I should have read the book. Next weekend is the trial date for me.
