Installing side sheild deflector kit, and the instructions say to use the dzus fasteners the hold the shroud on threw the lower shield mount. However, the fasteners will not grap , as they are too short.Anyone have any ideas were I can get slightly longer fasteners?

I had to remove the clips that the dzus fasten into and squish them a bit with some pliers.

Yup, you need to remove the dzus clips and squeeze them some. You'll understand when you take one off.

Just pry them up a little and pull them off the pin.
I did the bend thing and they are still too tight for my liking so I have ordered the longer ones they now have available. They turned so hard I was afraid of breaking the D ring off and then being screwed. My longer ones should get here tomorrow so I will see. Ordered them from port parts

A quick update on the side deflector kits is that they now have superseded the part number for them to SMA-8GL96-61-00 and the new number comes with longer dzus fasteners to cure this problem. If you have one of the original kits and need the longer dzus fasteners we have them in stock. We also have the new side deflector kits with the longer dzus fasteners in stock. Give us a call or send an order through our website if you need them.
PS - yammi4ever - Thanks for the order!

Here's the part number for the longer dzus fasteners - 8GL-28386-00-00 - they retail for $9.04 each.
As far as the price of the new kits there is no change - the price has stayed the same.

yep use the metal clip and the longer ones make it a lot better. Yamaha should have updated these the short ones were a joke.
Whatever DF was writing the directions and wrote the part about bending the clip should be shot when longer Dzus were available. Much better now though.
