Whats everyone seeing for operating temps? Anyone know what thermostat is in these sleds?

I can't remember exactly but I think normal is around 175 f. These 4 strokes run much warmer than any 2 stroke.

Between 76 and 78C (169 to 172F)

After a good run at really fast speed, if you stop and let it idle, temp will rise rapidly...

That has scared me how hot these run compared to my two strokes

Way cooler than my turbo viper did.
170 to 175 for me so far on the Winder

has anyone tested the anti freeze...many times these sleds come with straight coolant which doesnt cool as well?

I've heard this many times but why would they send them out with straight coolant when they specify 50/50 mixture? That's like telling us to use a certain oil in the engine and then they send it out with something inferior.

Yes I did, part of my pre season maintenance. 60/40 from factory. Hoping I do not have to add anymore. Added a bit 3 times last year and again this preseason. May have to break down a burp the system whereas I see nothing leaking!

Why couldn't you say 172-175 and make me look smart? ;)
You are smart. 172-175.

But that will change once the trails get hard and icy. The temp will climb as it did last year. Maybe that is where my fluid is going but I have never seen any overflow.

Yup I’m running 74-80 celcius aprox. Don’t let idle to long I’ve learnt that very quickly

I added water wetter from get-go just because of the old Yams yrs ago used to come with 100% coolant. And mine today ran 175f or so holding her to the bar end to end of my lake breaking her in hard....5 miles long.

This engine just purrs....slams to 8500, then instant to 8700/8750 and sits there mile after mile...

Man i miss YAMAHA engines....I never felt that warm and fuzzy about the 12004tec which is a great engine, but something just not as precise about that engine as this Yam 998. Makes all the cat chassie stuff go away. lol
