You need tunnel flares. I don't have a great picture but you can see them just under the bumper behind the 137 on my tunnel.

I don't get it! Why are so many guys going 4 stroke? Don't they know they are heavy pigs that can't get out of their own way? They handle like garbage trucks and beat the heck out of you over rough trails.

Honestly, with my Hygear shocks, my Apex whipped them every minute of every day. Quickness, top end, BUMPS, all day riding.
Now keep in mind i'm very competitive, have been on sleds for 45 years & am in pretty good shape. I put muscle rub on in the morning & pop a few Aspirin 'cuz i know i'm most likely going to be on the "aggressive" side for 250 of a 300 mile day.
Big heavy tanks these Yammi's are. I love when guys say that, then surprise them when they can't shake me in the tight twisty's.

I actually outrun my Yammi friends so i guess this WHOLE post of mine doesn't mean BEANS!

Managed 100mi today in the tight twisty Adirondacks, was fantastic this AM mashed potatoes and bare spots coming back home.........very depressing

I've been down to Daytona for "bike week" last five years. Every year I leave 3-5' of snow to go down.
This year I've decided not to go down to Daytona, and guess what, @/$)'?&+ Monkey! Mo$/(:!$) F@/'! 50° & rain.

Talk about depressing......

Where the heck are you riding that fresh stuff at?

My riding friend just went to Aruba, and came back the day it all melted. Missed the best riding in years from home, but only for 3 days. Same luck!

Tug hill looking crappy too...mid 50''s in Lowville earlier today.

This sport is getting crazy! In Maine they now report "we are having our January thaw". The old timers never heard of this. They used to put fishing bobbers on their car antennas to find their cars.
It's not that we are getting less snow, it just gets warm during season & we lose the base every year now. It makes it difficult to plan trips.

The only way to get your money's worth in this sport is to be ready to go from New Years thru March & don't miss ANY opportunities.
And hopefully your boss understands.

Those we're the days, Steve......never worried about missing an opportunity. There was always next week. No biggie. Right!
Bought a trailer back in 2000. Never looked back. Now today, snow is scarce. While there is ridable snow closer, dodging rocks & snirt isn't as fun as it used to be. Rather stay home. I think I'm getting spoiled over the years.

I don't envy you still riding with tuner ski's.

You need to visit DooTalk and read the posts on 850 failures. No parts available guys without sleds for over a Month and still waiting for replacement engines. One guy has a brand new 850 that blew up with 7.2 miles on it back in January and he is still waiting for an engine. I know you have had issues but how much riding have you missed? Your sled didn't spend a Month in the shop waiting for parts did it?

Your right, I haven’t lost a months riding to backordered parts, breakdowns, failures etc etc. I visit Doo Talk regularly. I owned a 17 Renegade Adrenaline 850 and really enjoyed it. Never had a single issue, problem or hiccup. Not a complaint about anything, from the salesman on up. But, there I am yesterday on my new 17 Sidewinder on a lake 40 kms from Manitouwadge, 10 kms in the bush from a logging road. I’ve parked the Winder facing into 20 km/h wind gusts. It’s about minus 12 out. After an hour I try to start my Winder and it turns over, but nothing on the gauges and it won’t start. It did finally start after I kept turning it over. I’ve posted about this back on December 30th. Others are having the same issue. I brought it to the attention of the Yamaha Tech that did its first service in January. He said he changed a relay. Hasn’t happened again until yesterday. May happen at anytime again. Sure as hell hope the $40,000 in Sidewinders I bought in October don’t leave me stranded in the bush miles from home....... When they are running right, nobody can touch them, and I love having that supremacy in a little northern town where everyone drives a sled everywhere all winter.

Still, I ride with caution, keep the fingers crossed and temper the enthusiasm. I can’t help it.

I have been saying this since my 06 Apex these Yamaha relays are in a bad location. I carry extra relays now because in certain situations they freeze. They are the exact same relays I have on my Wife's 2016 1200 Doo. The difference is the doo's are located above the chain case where there is plenty of warm air from the muffler. My Wife's 2008 Nytro had the relays right up front just like the Winders and they would freeze. The good news is I knew what to look for and warmed them up in my hand and everything was fine then. You would think they would learn but unfortunately they don't.

My buddy is up in Rangeley Lakes til Sunday. Nice riding. 220 miles yesterday, only in the 30's. Spoke to him last night. Other winders and 850 doo and turbo zookie cat all getting about the same mileage within a few tenths of a gallon. Beautiful afternoon ride back to the lodge with the sun going down.
I'm here sitting on the winder going vroom vroom watching water from melting snow pour across the driveway.
