Yes I know you like them and I think your right about how forward they seem to be on Cat skis. They just were twitchy. The semi were very good on the cat skis. I know some say they push but I thought they are damn tight in turns. Push in looser snow but the semi are better then slim Jim’s on cat skis.Ohhh, if you ran them on a Cat ski I now completely understand your distaste for them.
I too have ran Aggressive trackers on a Cat ski. An as much as I love SnowTrackers they are NO GOOD on that Cat ski. I in fact, ran them on my old turbo Cat and also went away from them I hated them that bad. One ride with them on one trip and I was done with them.
I'd go as far as to call them dangerous on the Cat skis. I had a Cat here in the shop with them on and got a change to run them again. OMG I had a death grip on the bars, I'm going to call them unstable on them even. I cautioned the owner about how unstable they were and he went to the Doo ski with Trackers on the Doo ski.
I don't know if its because they are mounted too far forward or what, but I just know I don't like them on the Cat skis, but I know I LOVE them on the Doo skis on the Winder or a Doo. Best thing I've ever used for carbides, but would never say that on the Cat skis. I forgot how bad they were till I had that 9000RR in here earlier this season and ridding it with them on again.

Well I rode with Canondale and he says to me “ what’s wrong with your skis” I’m like nothing they just twitch to much. Lol. He was referring to exactly what you guys mention on here. It’s like the aggressive are to high in the front on the cat skis. He said my back of the skis were going to wear out? lol. Now I find the semi to work very well on cat skis. No twitch no dart and they stick in corners. My riding partner noticed right away the first year I ran semi trackers. He said I can’t ride the corners like you. We both had ran slim Jim’s on cat skis years past.

So, did you shim yours to lay flat? Or change ski?Jonlafon I totally agree with what you said, I also get the twitch from time to time and the push/under steer. I’ve been running trackers since my 2011 apex and that sled used to rail the corners way better than my sidewinder does, I tried every possible suspension settings and it always feels the same with little affect, I’ve been thinking this a lot lately because I know how good trackers are and came to the conclusion that it’s the cat ski causing the issue and not making the tracker work like it’s supposed to.
Trackers need to lay flat on the ground to work properly, not the best pics but as you can see in the pic of my sled “red sled” the skis are angled up and on the other pic “srx” the skis sit level. That’s the issue why they don’t work like they should. View attachment 160336View attachment 160337

They appear similar to me. Better not so sure. Maybe someone can chime in that runs trackers on that ski. I’m assuming your looking for feedback on trackers for the new stryke skis?So are the new stryke skis on my 21 a better design than the Cat Skis that you guys are speaking of?

For me I’m not sure as I haven’t seen a 21 ski or sled in person to see how the skis lay on the ground. I have over 3500k on the cat ski with trackers and I wouldn’t go as far as saying they are dangerous, they just don’t work like they should do to the angle of the ski.So are the new stryke skis on my 21 a better design than the Cat Skis that you guys are speaking of?

I haven’t did anything yet, not sure how shimming the front of the ski would work out so I’m leaning towards a different ski over the summer. So, did you shim yours to lay flat? Or change ski?

I will say this. The aggressive do and can work on a cat ski BUT you need to really tweak your settings. And you better have transfer and understand how to make a sled do it. I just couldn’t get past those twitchy slight wiggles that really kinda surprise you. If I ran them super hard like a total maniac on the trail they were better and really stick like glue in the corners Just to much work for me. They are doable if you run them SUPER hard and do t mind a twitch that fills your shorts once in a awhile?

Bluebullet...I have run semi aggressive trackers on my 2010 apex with VK skis for 4 seasons, best improvement I ever did to that sled! Now on my my new SW LTX GT I had the dealer put the same on that sled( Semi Trackers) and handled good from the start. Steering was a little light for my feeling. I adjust the rear to my weight with the spring blocks to middle for 240 lbs and now she really corners with no ski lift, no darting and easy steering. I run my QS3 shocks on two for best results for most trail conditions. I am running 144 pics in the rear. Hope this helps.
It would be great If you can post a side picture of your sled/skis on a flat surface.

That twitch is because the front U blade on the tracker is not in contact with the trail especially when on the throttle. In the pic I posted you can see the tuner with trackers sit perfectly on the ground, that how it should be.I will say this. Do the cat skis normally angle up with just regular carbides ?

I agree about the U blade. That’s why I mention transfer. If you have very good transfer they are great in corners because as you said the U blade is doing it’s job. That twitch is because the front U blade on the tracker is not in contact with the trail especially when on the throttle. In the pic I posted you can see the tuner with trackers sit perfectly on the ground, that how it should be.

I have been running cat skis for many years and miles. The semi work great IMO for slightly less aggressive riders. They work great if you have transfer for aggressive riding also. Now in years past I feel the cat skis needed shimming. Lately as of 17 or so I feel something changed in the chassis and shimming is not needed nearly as much as say 16 and older Cat pro cross chassis. So yes the skis do have a very slight upward angle to them. I have. 21 cat here and girlfriend loves the semi. They don’t sit like aggressive though. The ski is slightly flatter.

I’m wondering if a modification to the ski rubbers would be something to try. Have to make those aggressive sit FLATTER on Cat skis to the ground. So less rubber on the forward area. Or just run Doo skis as Mike says?

If this was my sled I would try the double down sniper carbides 6”. Or get doo skis and run aggressive trackers. That new ski looks close to a cat ski. My 2 cents. Unless you can get some good feedback from others who ran trackers on the new Yamaha ski.Hello everyone i just bought my first sidewinder 21 ltx it has the stryke skis on it. I'm going to the snowtracker runners but looking for input on the difference between the two. Most people I've talked to say to go with the aggressive over the semi aggressive. I'm also running no studs

All this info answers why I have been chasing suspension setting with little affect LOL. I to was thinking of trimming the rubber in front of the spindle. I don’t find them horrible like this but there’s definitely a lot of room for improvement. I’m leaving Wednesday for northern Ontario if I got time b4 I leave I will take a look and see if trimming the rubber is possible.I’m wondering if a modification to the ski rubbers would be something to try.
