Beenba said:I have been speaking with Robert this past week.
I just mailed my rear XTX rear shock to him for his $115 re-valve and sleeve reinforcement. He offered his shipping for $15 each way (you call his courier), pretty good deal but I just mailed him my shock Canada Post for 20 bucks.
He will be shipping me back the XTX kit, my reworked shock, and shipping is still $15 return. Me like.
Very easy and knowledgeable guy to deal with so far, I figure he will call me again once he receives my shock.
Here is an excerpt from one of our emails for everyone interested in getting this kit.
*********************
The kit is 300$
The rear shock valving with sleeve installation is 115$ (80 + 35) + unusual parts if needed. (most of the time, no other parts needed)
The kit is the best improvement for the money. But if you want more i suggest you: (by order of priority):
Revalve and rebuilt of the center shock. 80$ . More comfort, remove the bouncing of the suspension, Allow use of a stiffer center shock spring, help limiter straps breaking, help avoiding damage of the suspension if the straps break.
Lower, rebuilt and revalve the skis shocks: 160$/pair. Improve cornering, lighter steering effort, a lot less ski lift, more intuitive. You wont feel the need to move your butt in going into a corner. Improve a little bit comfort.
Stiffer center shock spring (8cx-47336-10) 85$ finalise balancing of the snowmobile. Help eliminate rear sag, help cornering, does not harm comfort with the kit. May be cheaper at a Yamaha dealer.
Dont forget GHT tax
*********************
He said for my weight (220 with gear) the stock springs are fine with the kit.
I cant wait!
I think that Robert needs to contact me... I hate to have to remove this thread thats is feeding his business.

I am very pleased with the kit, it was very simple to put in and didnt take long at all. I also sent in my center and rear shock for revalving and also had him put the reinforcing sleeve on the rear shock. I can't wait till the snow flys to see how his kit performs. Great company to deal with!

So, are you saying you will only allow discussions about paying advertised vendors products? I would hate to see this type of censorship on here. I really enjoy reading about other TY users opinions on new products for our beloved Yamaha sleds regardless of where the products come from...

I just ordered my kit today. With all of the talk, I gotta try it out. He said that it should be here next week.

Mr. Sled,
I don't understand why you don't contact Robert directly and explain the situation.
Maybe he does want to advertise? Help him get there.
Show him how you can help grow his business and how you have helped other business' like his.
No where in this thread has he directly tried to push product. Only TY members looking for options and help that I can see. When I contact Robert I don't tell him how I found his stuff. I just want to deal with what he's doing. I'm sure many others are like me.

I would recommend Tom contact the vendor, perhaps the guy does not even know the site exists. There has been alot of discussion on this mod that has brought plenty of business to Star.

I just asked the question yesterday that if anyone knows him that maybe they could give us an "IN". But usually my experience has proven that the person that makes the product is aware and has been working the system... but at this point I am only spectating... guys I will do my best to contact them but sometimes I dont get a response and thats why I reach out to the group for a little help before I have no choice but to remove it.

I do agree with both sides on this matter. But I guess if we want to split hairs there are plenty of topics about other products out there. ie, whats the best tunnel polish, clutch kits, skis, tracks,,,, etc. and alot of them are not paying advertisers. I would hope that the non advertisers/members that recieve some notoriety on this forum be contacted and introduced to this site. It should be an easy sell. Right!! You would think its that easy... but it does not always fair so well... remember this is not my first year doing this, more support and less criticism would be a nice change..LOL. Maybe some of those products should be sought after but I do my best to take them all in stride and this one I did let go for a long time....

I do not see anywhere on this site where he has been advertising or promoting his stuff. I'm pretty sure he doesn't even have an account...if other members of this forum willingly talk about his products is that his fault?
And I had no intention of promoting his product and was just giving people MY honest review for others too see. People like this..and it brings traffic to your site and your *paying sponsors.
But yes I can see how me accidentally listing prices may be an issue, I would go back and modify my post but since you already quoted it...there is no point. Feel free to delete them both if you so please.

I am exactly like you and I feel that if a thread like this gets deleted it is only going to resurface, or piss members/viewers like myself off...everyone loves opinions (usually followed with prices too) of products. That's the point of a forum IMO...to help.
I personally only see an issue if Star Suspensions was coming on here and flaunting and promoting their products themselves....
What if this thread was the exact opposite saying his products are garbage? Would we be having this discussion?

I am glad to see you are willing to work with this here...and therefore when I call him tomorrow I will mention this entire issue too him.
However I bet he is oblivious to this site, and all its members here personally promoting his products...
Again feel free to remove the prices from my post, i see its the only real issue here..and I clearly didn't mean to start anything other than to help.
Thanks

Having dealt with forum politics myself in the past, I know what it's like to constantly defend your decisions...... you need to do what you need to do.
