Storm 150 season review

Do you suppose this is why the ice storm is single ply, as they don't expect the owner to stud it? And that may be the reason why the Storm is two ply? Honestly, only the buyer knows the conditions they ride in best. Ice storm is better than no stud at all.

That's a good question, Woody's makes stud's for single ply tracks so could do that if it becomes a requirement.

Stay away from the ice storm and buy the storm 150 and 200 igrips st20's cheaper $500 for the track and $200 for 200 studs i put in 192 and will probably put in another 50 this summer they work amazing, best part is 200 studs only weigh 1 pound

Not sure what would be better in buying the 2-ply and adding the iGrips, is having a 2 ply track that much better? (Genuinely don't know the benefits). I can get a Ice Storm for $750 CDN and to me having the studs already in there would be a lot better. I only trail ride never do lake/ice runs or anything like that.

This is why I chose the Ice Storm. Only do trails, I am stock, and didn’t want to pay an extra $250 in iGrips and have to install them when the Ice already comes with them. So far I have been extremely happy with the way the ice storm looks and has performed. I knew exactly what to expect as well going into my decision. Optimal traction was not my #1 concern, however, having some grip around any icy corners was what I was after.

Having thoughts on ditching my lightly studded (144) stock rip 2 and going with an ice storm. Really want to do it with a some maintenance and other upgrades but it's hard to justify when my track is still in nice shape...Maybe next year?? We will see how froggy I get this off season, when a good deal is to be had it's hard not to jump.

I just saw 3 studs ripped out of mine this week so i may be getting a new track.
Do you think it actually helps turn around corners better?

I'm thinking you could run 1.86 triggers with this track down the middle and be ok as long as you keep a tight track. Thoughts? Basically the same as running 1.575's with the ripsaw 2 1.25. I don't think 1.63's would be long enough.

Or 1.74 megabytes...That might be a little safer.
That would make sense, I put 1.575 Mega bites on my 1.25 RipSaw 2 so 1.74 MB's on a 1.5 seems like that would line up.

Still looking for clarification on Storm + studs or Ice Storm for just trail riding no racing no ice.

Storm 150 track is awesome, BUT WOULD NOT RECCOMEND ANYONE TO BUY IT. My buddy and I both installed track immediately at purchase and installed iGrips. His lost all center lugs tail end 1st season. He sent his track in and they totally denied any claim. Mid 2ND season mine starts losing random lugs. Tried to start warranty claim through dealer and direct my self. And I state AND INDICATION OF TRACK SPIN NOLIFIES ANY CLAIM. So if you want an awesome track that has no durability and no backing from manufacture, go ahead and buy and install.

Yikes, that's not good to hear :( and that's the 2 Ply right? What other option is there?

They need around 250 studs to make them work right ,how many does the ice storm come with?

How many miles on the track? was it ice related? Mine would of been destroyed in the first week if i never chipped all the ice out of the tunnel before i park it every day, this is the worst machine i ever had for ice build up in the tunnel have to chip it out several times a day on long rides. So your telling me Michelin won't stand behind there product?

Do you have a picture of the pattern you used for the igrips? Did you run them down just the center (1.5” high) portion of the track? Or all the way out to the edges?
I put them everywhere except in the dead center outside lugs are the most important for turning , i have 192 now and looks like i can fit in another 50

I need to get BRP 1.5" Ice Ripper XT from the new MXZ XRS as I have a 129" Winder.
