New member on the site. I have an 01 SXR 600. was my first sled. Would like to stick with yamaha and upgrade to a four stroke, im not knowledgeable of Yamaha models. Im researching but thought id ask to get some opinions.
The SXR is to small for me. Im big 6'4" 250lbs, long legs. I need a sled that fits my size. Id like to stand once in a while without hunching over too much, willing to install risers but dont want to overdo it. I ride mainly on groomed trails and on open lakes. I ride aggressively, i like sitting higher and forward and want room for my legs. Need a sled that handles well, moves well and is decent on gas, and must be comfortable for big riders.
Saw pics of Attak and Apex, seat position looks good, enough room for my legs but having never sat on one i have no idea.
I will be buying used, 2004-07. that being said any end of season deals out there??
Any help would be great. thanks.

Attak with a 6.1kg rear spring and a revalve from Pioneer Performance.
I'd look for an '06-07 Deltabox Nytro. It comes stock with a tall seat and riser, decent shocks, and the motor is very reliable.

Deffantly get a 136 sled. Add your location and people near you may chime in. Theres a lot of nice sleds on here for sale. If you get a 04 or 05 the seat upgrade to a 06 or newer seat is a must. I am 6' 3" and the stock seat on my warrior was to low. Maxdlx

I'm 6'1" 220lbs and found the softer seat on the gt models to be very uncomfortable and hard to stand as you sink into it more. I swapped with a seat from a RTX model which is firmer and it was much better. I also installed a apex mountain risor and the bar height is just a titch lower then i like but not bad at all sit, to stand is very easy for me.

If your happy with the power you have now then the Vector LTX or Nytro RS would be a good choice since you listed groomed trails and lakes. If you want more power than go with an Apex based sled. What ever you get, get a 136" track machine. I came off a SX600R also, dropped down to a Phazer MTX and couldn't be happier, faster 0-60 than my SX600R but slower up top. I only miss the AWESOME sound that came out of the 2 stroke triple exhaust pipe.

Hooked on Yamaha? Okay, 4 cyl, 4-stroke the sound will give you a boner. So why hesitate.
If I get rid of my Cat it will be a 2006 APEX Warrior with Turbo.

If he goes 136 he'll be stuck with a poor riding, heavy Pro-Action rear skid or the unreliable, poor riding mono rear skid.
I'd stay with a 121 unless he plans to swap out to a 136 rear skid out of a Polaris or Ski-doo. Good, used Renegade skids can be found on eBay for $200-$250. I know, I've bought two of them. One is going into my Vector.

About geometry, could buy a better 136" skid from a newer Yamaha and fit it in an Apex of 2006?

The 136 proaction will ride better than his 121 proaction if set up correctly. The mono in 136 has been raved about on here for smoothness. JMO

Apex LTX or a Used Attak. Same sleds. I love the 136 Mono. Best riding suspension I have ever been on for trail riding. Can be set up for all riding styles.

X2, Senor Frog!
IMO 136" Mono is an excellent skid and extremely comfortable.
