Was on trout lake(long lake) running about 60mph constant, but it had just snowed 14 inches, so it was heavy going.Really that hot, still running that spring? Mines different because STM secondary.

Overall, what kind of life (miles) are guys seeing with Tapp on trail sleds that log thousands of miles? Only ask because recently someone told me that don't last.TAPP is certainly an incredible primary. Been researching it for a few yrs now and 1200 guys love them. Definitely the cadillac of primaries for the 998. Nice to see more guys with 998s are going this route.
Dave told me he sends them out to run with the 8DN in stock YAM secondary. Clickers like the TRAs have are a bonus for us turbo guys.

Where did you hear this? I have heard the exact opposite--that they are one of the MOST durable clutch's around. Service interval is 10k miles.
Maybe you are thinking of the STM primary?

Wait? What about the stocker? Lol. 9400 miles. Looks amazing. 67.1 grams primary weights. Probably has something to do with it. Lol

I like this 911 clutch cover!!! What is your opinion is it worth the few 100buck?Have a team with 911 cover on my viper turbo with sidewinder secondary, I use the 8dn belt and this setup works really good no slip at all. The primary clutch is 40c secondary 45c the belt around 75c after many full wot runs.

Surely you will get different opinions on here. I would never run a primary without. I have been running 911 since 2012. Love the fact you can get the belt to sheave clearance very low. EXTREMELY smooth engagement

Is the 911 cover dialed down to match the yamaha belt width?
If so how did it affect your engagement RPM?

I think your really blowing it out of proportion, like saying 998 crack in head, now everybody is saying it. Mine has close to 4000 miles with 270 tune no problems, You have to take care of and watch parts because your running high tunes, full throttle ,hit brakes, hit throttle full again, then when #*$&@ breaks get on the web and tell everybody, dealers my way isn’t seeing this. I think we should watch for the Yamaha spiders flying apart saw that with my own eyes. Mine doesn’t rattle either. Isn’t Yamaha belts exploding because the clutches suck, cheap Chinese aluminum. You sound like a old lady at a bingo game ,gossipyIf that team is the same as the ones one the 998, they are blowing up like crazy

there was a recall on the original team clutch, and there should be on this one. The Yamaha clutches that have blown up are from user error. If you trust the team clutches at that power, good luck. I wouldn’t put that garbage on my sled. Those team clutches are dangerous, and I’m surprised there isn’t another recall now that there are injuries from exploding team clutches.

IMO, they MIGHT be ok on box stock sleds (including stock gearing and no studs). But there aren't very many like that. On big tunes with lots of studs, I think they're ticking time bombs.

There are some issues....yes, but to say they're blowing up like crazy is a little much. All these stock clutches (Winder or Cat) are getting significant miles on them now, and many with increased power. I think we've all been spoiled with how easy it has been to make big power. With that eventually things wear out, become stressed, etc.. I feel it was just a matter of time before we saw more and more failures, which is just common sense when you can add 50-100 hp this easily. With some of the Team clutches there seems to be some inconsistencies because we are hearing about some issues with low mile units as well.If that team is the same as the ones one the 998, they are blowing up like crazy
