No snow here in southeastern wisconsin and we are heading to northern wisconsin on wednesday, Brand new 2017 rtx le and needed to get some testing done to get it close. I only ran 540 ft on grass but did get it dialed in pretty good hopefully. Timers were set at 240 ft and 540 ft. Best setup was HH in primary with tp orange primary spring. Secondary I ran 32/38 helix with dalton black/tan secondary spring set at 50 degree wrap. I tried a few with the tp orange secondary spring. I personally did not like it. Very finicky spring in my opinion. The tp orange primary spring I really like. It was pulling 8700 rpm. Took some weight out of the tip but did not gain. anything.

240 ft 3.37 et
540 ft 5.87 et at about 89-90 mph on speedo

I ran the 35/39 helix and is was faster to 240 ft but it started to fall off from 240 to 540. Would have to lighten tip up was only pulling 8600. It was not no where near as snappy as the 32/38. Its possible that I could get it to not fall off but it wont be as snappy as the 32/38 and not much difference.

In conclusion clutches were very cool with both setups. I really like the tp orange primary spring, The orange secondary spring not so much the daltons seem to have alot more leeway without causing heat. The HH compared to the daltons weights have alot more throttle response. Dont get me wrong the daltons are excellent weights but the throttle response and backshift are much better with the HH. The dalton black/tan secondary spring works really well. Thanks

Good info thanks for posting. The orange primary spring showing ANY spring bind? Like paint rubbing. A little is okay as long as it stops.. Not cutting that spring AT ALL. But I did see one in another sled(not mine) that showed some spring bind.. I run a lot of thunder products and will continue to do so.. Sometimes primary springs can be finicky also.. Be sure to use Glide washers on any primary spring.. I replace the washers every 3000 miles or so

Offset? on the setup?

Rpm should be 8800 on stock sled From beginning to end when you punch it. Just saying

No spring bind that I can see. A little rubbing on the side but no more than the dalton primarys I tried. I do have the glide washers installed. Crossfire if I went that light of weight to get 8800 pretty much right away there was lots of primary heat. Also the 35/39 helix was about 3/4 sled length faster in the first 200 ft. And It was't close to 8800 down low. The 32/38 was alot snappier down low but not at 8800 and it was slower in the first 200 ft. I do not do any top end lake racing and from testing so far in a 1/4 mile or less I don' t know if there would be much difference between 8700 and 8800. Have had really no snow to test on yet. Like I stated above the 35/39 was quicker in the first 200 ft and I think would be the same in a 1/4 or less with taking some tip weight out. But in the minimal testing so far the 32/38 had great throttle response and backshift compared to the 35/39. It was well worth the trade off to be a little slower down but have much better fun factor. I will be doing more testing if we ever get any snow. Thanks

8400-8800 on Dyno is we’re its at, your in there sounds great,I have the TD gauge I have to go and try some helix’s myself., I have a cat a little different in clutching team primary and stm tuner. I like quick short distances vs all out WOT 1000 ft max, We finally got some snow and lakes are solid.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I have alot more testing to do to if we get snow. Also I seen that your using the td guage. I went on there site and this would be alot bettter than timers because you could go right on a hard packed trail and test go and make changes and test again without setting up timers. How do you like the td guage and is it prettty accurate. Thanks.

It’s works, really nice ,I believe your setup is very accurate, GPS is is more convenient because you can go from one sled to another, , and anywhere you ant to go ,road, lake ,etc it measures ET and MPH at all the distances you would want.
