I am testing a prototype thumb booster from Rockmeister. It boosts both low and high modes. In high mode it gets nice and hot just like his booster for the apex did! Hope to trail ride next weekend with it. Very simple install and nice quality like he always provides.
This sounds very encouraging. A define add on for next year! Plse keep us informed.

I too believe thumb warmer is totally inadequate. One would think Yamaha would know better after all the poor warmers they have had in the past. Like they never rode one in the real world or, more likely, they just don't care.

Any follow up on the "Yamaheater" bolt on for the SW?? Not looking to change my throttle lever just add some real heat to the thumb warmer. Good summer project if it available....

This an arctic cat issue and has been for a while the vipers are terrible and the friends with pre 14 cats have the same problem.
In the old days with rear exhaust I used to ride with hand over exhaust to get it warm till one day I brought my hand back to the bars and the glove was on fire . It was a long ride home that night no spare glove with me.

My grips and thumbwarmer on my SW and my Doo 1200 work fine and get plenty hot. I think the biggest problem are the guys who want to look cool with low shields and God forbid putting gauntlets on your bars when it's really cold. I got tired of riding with cold hands so now I have a shield that actually deflects cold air, I use gauntlets on those really cold days and I carry a pair of Klim mitts just in case my fingers get cold. Now I don't ever get cold hands and I never have to put my warmers on high no matter how cold it gets.

Pinnin' it!
I tested a prototype yamaheater last season. It worked very well in high and low setting. I recommended a touch more heat out of it but it was a definite improvement!
I can only assume Roc will have these in production for the coming season.

This might sound dumb. I was having some cold hand issues. I had some super warm new gloves. The heat wasn't getting through them. I put on my old beat up pair and solved the problem.

Same for me as I also have a mid height DX shield installed. Warmers work great on the Winder even on low, no need to turn them on high even. The 1200 I always hated the fact they would go cold at an idle even after the guage re-flash. I much prefer the heaters on the Winder as they stay warm ALL the time.
Another plus or the mid-shield is the wind isn't trying to rip you off the machine. They feel so fast with that low shield because the body is up way into the wind tugging like hell on your arms making you hold on.
Put a mid shield on and there are no hand/thumb warmer problems, or body or face/head cold problems anymore!

Don't know why you'd need hand guards, the shield provides the protection needed, but if you wanted to I guess you could easy enough as long as you position the bars properly.

yes to the hand guards and the mid height windshield.
I put the guards on for the short stock windshield that came on my LTX-LE. First cold ride and on went the mid. I have since trimmed it a bit.
