Tie rod bracket bushing wore out

Been looking for my steering play for 2 seasons now and we found it...this cheap crap plastic bushing in the tie rod support bracket...it wore the top and bottom causing the bracket to go up and down causing play. Someone should look at milling better compound bushings for this.

Wasnt fun to get to but, managed to keep the rad on...had to drill out 10 rivets holding the chassis cross brace in..remove the steering post nut and pull it up outta the way...pull the nose cone off and what not. Just a heads up if you cant find the play in your setup.

Item number 3..cheap to replace but a pain..rivets cost more

You see nr 26. New part number. Yamaha update the steering last year in 2017 because of the play I showed in the video. I put in the new one and 90 % of the play is gone.

I put a grease fitting accessible from front of sled into this bushing. This bushing you will not feel in the bars when it is loose since its not directly attached to the steering post. The bolt and screw used to secure the pivot are not to be tightened since it would just squish the washers. Most of my play was the post block way up by the bars. OFT block fixed that. Others have found the nut loose on the piece Janne found to be source of his play.

I put a grease fitting accessible from front of sled into this bushing. This bushing you will not feel in the bars when it is loose since its not directly attached to the steering post. The bolt and screw used to secure the pivot are not to be tightened since it would just squish the washers. Most of my play was the post block way up by the bars. OFT block fixed that. Others have found the nut loose on the piece Janne found to be source of his play.

there is no play in the upper block and its tight...my steering post is 1 piece unlike the diagram he put up with the number 26...I don't have that piece he's messing with in the video....we looked at my steering for a few hours...if you held the skis and wiggled the bars you could see the tie rod support brackets moving up and down...thus causing the handles bars to feel loose

I had play in bars from these bushing . the peace that goes into the bushing that the steering attaches to would tip up causing play. when looking in at the peace in bushings you could see it tip up when moving the steering. replace the bushing and and no more tipping and play is gone.

Yes I noticed the up and down movement from those bushing. Thats why I added the grease fitting, Grease takes up space. Always thought about putting a sleeve in there so you could tighten the little bolt. Reason I had it apart is to replace the subframe they are in after ripping a a-arm off.

That piece is the bottom of the post itself.
