The guides on my track were gouged out by my torsion spring last winter. I spent the last 2 years on the stiffest setting and didnt have a problem until March when i decided to change the settings. Then this happened. Im looking at getting a new track but i dont want to drop 500 bucks and destroy it. What do you think?

Of course fix the suspension and springs before replacing the track. I would definitely change it as those guides prevent the track from going sideways.

That was my thought too but why would it do that? And what is it that needs replacing?

I'd inspect everything, including the rail end caps to be sure they're still there (I've had one take a vacation on me once). Maybe the track alignment or tension was way off?

I'm wondering of the springs aren't in the retainer blocks (the blocks mounted on the rails) properly. since the front ends of the springs move away from the track at compression, I'd start my inspection at the front retainer blocks. Also, lift the back of the sled to decompress the suspension and look at the front of the springs. One other thing that might be going on is broken front arm or link and bent rods. This might allow the suspension to move back in the tunnel decreasing the clearance at the tips of the springs.

Do check your front H suspension arm as the early models had cracking/breakage issues. There were also issues with the rear shock pivot at the lower front idlers.

The spring retainer blocks are offset. Could the be installed the wrong way?

Thanks for the help. I currently dont have the sled with me but last time i looked it over when it was elevated on the trailer and there wasnt anything blatantly obvious.

I'd focus on the front plastic loops behind the front outside idler wheel. The torsion springs hook into the loops there. How much clearance is there between the track and end of spring? There are different length springs. If someone swapped out springs from another sled perhaps they are too long.

Well figured it out. My upper guide wheels flattened once again. This caused the track to rub on the torsion spring.

Best solution is to replace those with Arctic Cat wheels. They are same size and have replaceable bearings. The are solid and can't get locked up by ice in the tunnel like the stock spoked ones. Cheap too. Part number is on the site somewhere. Also might consider Hygear torsion spring spacers. The replace the small black plastic inside the torsion loop and keep the spring in a more level position.

Replacement upper guide wheels in general phazer talk is the thread.. 2014 AC snow pro 600. I put these on my 07 build and they worked great.
