what are you guys running for sag with studs?
I have lots of rubber on tunnel protectors but it was pointed out to me that track only balloons at top under braking not acceleration. Thats ok with me. Adds to stopping power!

I also remember reading like 20lbs @ 2". If you leave your track too loose don't you risk stabbing the track on the front of the rails?
Maybe but not a single mark on my rail caps so no issue there.

What's the consensus? Tight or loose. Not worried about centering. Gave up on that long ago and no issues. This is what I have been running all year.

What do you mean you gave up on centering ?
I've always noticed that my track is not equidistant on both sides. Asked my mechanic twice and he said all was well. I've had no issues either.

Exactly as you describe. Track goes where it wants loose or tight. No issues so all I do is count turns on adjuster from flush and do both sides equal. Works fine.

Hey guys, quick question regarding track tension. I am heading 5 hours north this weekend, and my viper only has a 100 miles on it and the track was pretty loose since the new track is stretching. I was wondering if having 1/2" of free sag is to tight? I know a lot of you guys are running them looser, but I don't know how much a new track stretches, so I went a little tighter figuring it would stretch more in the next couple hundred miles and I won't have a shop or a stand to tighten the track while I am up there.
I would do what the book says for your model. Use 1 or 2 fingers to push down on the track moderately. If you want, try pushing same way on a scale to see how hard you push, but it will take a bit to make 20 lbs. I can get about 30 # but I'm pushing quite hard to do it. I have a notion that one finger and a fair push will get you the 12-15# that the XTX calls for.
2" sag seems to be the norm they just vary the weight spec for the test.
I'm guessing that Cannondale's would easily be 3-4" at 20# which is much too loose for me. I guess it works for him, and he's got a lot more experience than I.

I will scale it TD. Really been thinking about this since failure to make 100mph consistently this past weekend. When I did my previous testing of track tension I was also running stock clutching and belt so was very inconsistent. That is taken care of but that inconsistency may have messed with my conclusion that loose is faster. That said its been well over 1000mi I have been running like this.

I think people would freak when they see how tight my XTX track tension is. Yes, I adjust mine to where all wheels are touching the track while sled is suspended off of the ground

Yep I saw that and was like WTF? Then he happily went about hitting over 90mph on loose snow packed forest service roads.
The floating front arm on rtx and ltx won't work right like that though.
I am now running right at specs. Track being tighter helps consistency. Have not noticed any change in suspension action. 2"@20lb. Way tighter than previously.
