i remember years ago with the rapid bike on the turbo apexs we used to bump a few degree of timing down low around engagement and low rpm. And then take a few degrees out up top for safety and to be able to run 1-2lbs more boost.
I have been playing with the AC and ski doos for a while and lost touch on the Yamaha.
Guys with the PCV ignition module. Has anyone done this yet with success. I havent adjusted timing with it and still have it set stock.
I am running a hurricane stage 1 set at 6lbs. Just looking for a few more safe hp
What's your opinions

In my opinion you should be able to do the exact same thing as EVO did. If you are asking for specific map maybe someone will send you one. Ulmer is working on ignition mapping also with PCV. Did you know you can have two selectable ignition maps also? Cool stuff!
Didn't Hurricane address this recently?

i looked into the evo flash which they reprogram the ecu. from my understanding that is needed to be done to change timing. do you have an intercooler? i have one now and my next investment is a header. dave seems to feel a header will gain almost 10 more hp on 6 lbs.
You can also change timing with PCV ignition module.
I know that we can change timing with the ignition mod. I was asking if any one has and what they found.
I did see the info about the header. 10hp is nice easy gain.
Right now not running a intercooler. I haven't seen intake temps hot enough at low boost to worry. And where we ride good 91 octane fuel is easy to get.
I plan on bumping boost up with some race fuel this winter to like 9-10 lbs

I don't have a turbo but I do have a ignition module on the way from Ulmer, our plan is to increase the timing and add a few more rpm. He has been playing around with this for awhile he may be your best bet for turbo information.
With a turbo if you are not lowering compression then pulling timing is the best way to ensure your eliminating detonation. there are still limitations with the stock viper platform as far as fuel and injectors go. anything over 6#'s of boost should be upgraded to the high flow fule pump and at 7#'s the stock injectors run out of duty cycle so adding a 4th into the intercooler or the intake manifold is 1 way with a separate gems controller or larger primary injectors.
As far as timing the PCV is probably the best way to go if timing and fueling are your only interests. The EVO flash is a great thing because it deals with other issues than timing like rev limiter, start up fueling....but it is a 1 shot deal and not changeable in the future.
Allen Ulmer is finishing my 14 XTX right now with many upgrades including PCV, pod 300 data logger, fuel pressure regulator, fuel surge tank ++++ and a bigger turbo capable of over 20 #'s of boost.
The 15 XTX is getting the old MPI turbo, the complete fuel system from the 14 and is getting the Re flash from EVO to pull timing and raise rev limiter to allow for 10 of boost on stock motor with 50/50 mix race gas and 8#'s on 91.
So I will be testing both the PCV and the EVO Flash versions as soon as the snow wants to fly.

Nice! I look forward to hearing your experience. I'm going the PCV direction. So I will be testing both the PCV and the EVO Flash versions as soon as the snow wants to fly.
You can also get rev extend with PCV ignition module. The EVO flash is a great thing because it deals with other issues than timing like rev limiter
Haven't gotten all the PCV components yet let alone installed. I'll be happy to report my experience with stock MPI trail kit mid season, IF we get snow...
I have heard from several ( I cannot remember who, there is another post about it) that they were having trouble getting the rev limiter increased from the PCV but some have made it work.

I read the same. Apparently, that's been figured out as I messaged a bunch of the guys that were running it. I don't know how or what the problem was, just a generic, problem solved as I was asking generic questions...
Good to hear I am hoping on my 14 that the PCV will allow Allen to get the revs into the sweet spot. If anyone can set it up he is the man!

I like the idea of an added 10hp with the straightline header but I'd like to see dyno sheets with both stock and aftermarket header on a 190 equipped sled. I would need to see the torque curve of both before dropping my money. Keep in mind Tator, now that you have the intercooler your only about $600. bucks away from having a 240hp kit. I think the header is about $700.
Mbrp is $399 I am thinking that for the 15 Allen is putting straight line on the 14

That's a reasonable price for the MBRP, I guess anything would be an improvement over the stock header.
