Reason I ask, is that, yesterday I flipped my sled and one of my damages is the bars got bent badly out of shape and need to be replaced. Just foamed them and they were warm too, but I like the 06 bars better (had an er 06) so if this is right, I prefer putting the 06 bars.
Yes,you can use your 07 harness to plug in old 06 bars...and voila.

Thanks Dan, easy fix !!!

Aren't the 06 bars taller than 07? Putting 06 bars on an 07 will raise the bars an extra inch or so (since 07's use a taller riser).??

If thats the case, even better. I have contemplating a higher riser.

can the 07 harness be purchased seperate from the "bar update", and if so how much?

Sounds like I wouldnt even need to foam the 06' bars with the harness ?????????

Machzed, thanks for the info. I haven't been on the site in a while but recently update my bars and found absolutely no improvement. I was so disappointed that I was considering ditching the sled all together. I will try this fix to see if it works. again thanks a bunch

Thanks Dan. Great post!! I was going to raise hell, I bought two sets of the 07 bars and still had frosty hands. I am goign to re wire my 06 harness and put it into series. I will then do a temp test and will post pictures and my results. My picts will give a step by step process on how to do it. Warm hands here we come!! Again thanks Dan and all the others who take their time to post what they find.

hey guys..
the 06 bars and 07 updated bars are same in height...they will work perfect with 06 riser and be exact same height.
I was one of the guys who didnt want to wait for the 07 updated apex bars so I took a pair of Nytro bars instead...its the Nytro bars which are flatter and need the taller riser from 07 apexs....SO what Im saying here is,you guys who used 07 updates bars and never changed your riser, you will just be going back to your original setup..which is same height and same riser.
for anyone who wants a taller setup, you can still put 06 bars back on and order an 07 RISER...it will raise bars 1-1/4 total....however IMO you cannot read speedo nearly as well...I love my 06 setup best as you can read speedo perfectly.
ALSO,thanks guys for giving me KUDOS....the handwarmer issue is one of those things that drove me nuts...and Its well worth sharing with the TY guys....
I just got home from running mostly lakes today..and some trails..we have little snow here so trails arent good yet...but the short trail i rode...at 10f my hands were cooking and I had to turn them OFF!...even at mid level they were very very hot...lake was COLD running 80+mph for about 10-15 mins straight...hands felt the cold wind,so i turned them up and palms were cooking..really is bizzare how hot these get.
this is what i was trying to explain about windshields and handguards ect....regaurdless of wind, which ofcourse is cold on hands....you should still feel HEAT on grip..no matter what..and this is what was lacking...those never felt warm or hot..no matter i wind or not....the new setup truly is HOT.
so another entire day on the clock with setup and all is well...also,a side note...I ran slightly faster on radar today then a few new machs..and about same as a few other 07 machs...all other apexs(except matts turbo) were at least 3-5mph slower..so the setup in clutches is working good.
one thing i noticed...my clock is not right anymore...I just wonder if when i was plugging in the bars so many different ways i unplugged something else?...clock is 2 hrs fast......anyone else notice clock change after replugging 06 bars?...im sure its fine.

HELLO PEOPLE I AGREE WITH OTHER MEMBERS I LIKE THE 06 GRIPS MUCH BETTER ,THE HOT TICKET I'VE BEEN USING ON MY 06 RTX IS THE STD 06 GRIPS WITH 06 NYTRO BARS(LESS PULL BACK=STRAIGHTER) AND 06 APEX MOUNTAIN RISER(TALLER) YOU WILL NEED 4 MOUNTAIN RISER BOLTS ALL THE WIRING,CABLES,AND BRAKE HOSE WILL WORK FINE. I ALSO GOT MY UPDATE KIT AND ONLY PUT THE HARNESS ON
THE HIGHEST I RUN THEM AT IS ONE BAR ABOVE MEDIUM AND LET ME TELL YOU THEY GET NICE AND HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BEING A MECHANIC MY WHOLE LIFE THE APEXES CHARGING SYSTEM WILL EASILY HANDLE THIS AND MORE!!!!!!!!
THIS SYSTEM IS VERY LITTLE DIFF. THAN AN R1 I'VE SEEN STRANGE THINGS ON R1 AND R6'S, HUGE LIGHT KITS AND NOT ONE BURNED STATOR OR AND REGULATORS!!!!!!!!!!!
ONLY ONE BAD THING IS IF YOU RUN THEM ON HIGH TOO LONG YOU WILL BE BUYING NEW GRIPS (DONT LET ANYONE USE OR RIDE YOUR SLED WITHOUT EDUCATING THEM FIRST)[/i]

Dan- My clock is 2hrs and 50 minutes fast, but I never unplugged anything. Going to reset it and see if it changes again, worked fine last year.

Wow really?....and you DID the 06 bar change like i did correct?...if so you must have unplugged the old bars to plug in new ones....hmmm....weird.......I bet this is the same amount mine is fast too...very bizzare!....I wonder if it just did something to it when we changed the wiring over...and HOPEFULLY is a "one time" thing....
worse case scenario would be now the clock runs too fast for some reason....but I have a feeling it will be OK once reset...keep me posted on CLOCK issue after 06 bar to 07 harness update.
I wont have time to mess with mine for a few days as the woman will be here keeping me busy....so i wont be "tuning" the sled this week.LOL.
